This opportunity is within the Canadian Digital Banking (CDB) platform team, which plays a critical role in the full lifecycle of development for BMO’s Online and Mobile Banking applications.

You will drive the entire software development lifecycle, collaborating across functional teams to transform requirements into robust features. This includes managing development teams and processes, conducting software testing, and performing ongoing maintenance. Key responsibilities involve translating user requirements into technical specifications, writing code, and preparing design documentation. You will support system design, recommend security solutions, and debug business systems and applications. You will apply deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and programming languages to develop high-quality technology applications and services, including tools, standards, and software platforms based on business needs.

  • Translate user needs into technical specifications by understanding, conceptualizing, and facilitating requirements.​
  • Analyze, design, develop, test, and implement new software programs, documenting the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault rectification for system and core software components.
  • Ensure code and configurations adhere to security, logging, error handling, performance standards, and non-functional requirements.
  • Evaluate new technologies for fit with the platform/eco-system, considering upstream and downstream impacts on process, data, and risk.
  • Follow release management processes and standards, including version control.
  • Assist in interpreting and documenting client requirements.
  • Focus primarily on business or group within BMO; may also have broader, enterprise-wide responsibilities.
  • Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within established guidelines.
  • Work independently and manage non-routine situations regularly.
  • Additional accountabilities or broader work may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 5-7 years of relevant experience and/or certification in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Solid understanding of software development practices, concepts, and technology through formal training and/or work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of UI frameworks, preferably Angular.
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Typescript.
  • Experience with mobile hybrid development and familiarity with the Ionic Capacitor framework is an asset.
  • Knowledge of native mobile development frameworks (Android SDK, Kotlin, Swift, iOS) is an asset.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure DevOps pipelines is an asset.
  • Some experience with the Java programming language is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with data-driven decision making.

Salary:

$75,900.00 - $141,900.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
