About the role

AGL’s Construction team is looking for a Senior SCADA & Controls Engineer to lead critical engineering scopes for new greenfield grid-scale energy projects and help deliver AGL’s vision for a sustainable future.

This is a senior technical role with leadership responsibilities, driving excellence in SCADA and control systems design, commissioning, and integration across renewable energy projects.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead SCADA and control engineering activities across all phases of grid-scale energy projects (Assess to Execute)

  • Develop technical specifications and design criteria for major equipment and systems

  • Review and govern engineering deliverables from contractors, OEMs, and consultants to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements

  • Coordinate and manage technical workstreams, ensuring adherence to HSE legislation and AGL’s safety standards

  • Perform risk assessments and implement effective controls for engineering activities

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and provide recommendations for future projects

  • Mentor and share technical knowledge within the team to support collective growth

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers to deliver successful project outcomes

What you will bring:

You’re an experienced electrical engineer with deep expertise in SCADA and control systems, passionate about renewable energy and innovation.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (essential)

  • Eligible for Engineers Australia membership; CPEng certification highly preferred

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in SCADA and controls engineering, ideally in renewable energy or energy storage projects

  • Strong knowledge of Australian and International standards, process safety, and project lifecycle management

  • Proven ability to manage complex technical deliverables and multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills

  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently

  • Awareness of emerging energy technologies and their application to grid-scale projects
