Job Description:

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Grants and Contracts, the Senior Research Administrator ensures completion and performs a variety of functions related to the administrative aspects of research grants and contracts. Works with a variety of clients, across all Brown University Health affiliates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years progressively more responsible experience in the field of research administration (grants and contracts, regulations, requirements), demonstrating knowledge of, and ability to interpret related requirements and regulations and to communicate effectively.

  • Experience with proposal preparation with federal and non-federal grants and contracts

  • Experience using the InfoEd/Huron grants and agreements management (or similar) system

  • And/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Competencies

  • Must have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.

  • Comfortable in public speaking and training environments.

  • Excellent financial analytical ability

  • Willingness and interest in assuming increasing levels of responsibilities, networking, leadership, and training opportunities

  • Highly proficient in Excel applications (data manipulations); MS Excel and Google Docs preferred

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to elicit and disperse information; to present information (including data) and communications in a clear and concise manner

  • Strong organizational, administrative, time management and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment

  • Flexible, service-oriented and resourceful

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a multi-tasking environment while maintaining careful attention to detail

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
