Qualifications: Please read carefully and ensure you meet qualifications before submitting your application.

  • Preferred: Doctorate in English as a Second Language or Doctorate in English for Speakers of Other Languages or Doctorate in English Language Learners or Doctorate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages or Doctorate in Bilingual Education or related field.
  • Minimum: Masters in English as a Second Language or Masters in English for Speakers of Other Languages or Masters in English Language Learners or Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages or Masters in Bilingual Education or related field AND 2 areas of exceptional expertise.
  • All Instructors: Must have a valid state teacher certification in ESL/ELL/BLE or a valid state teacher certification in elementary or secondary education with an endorsement in ESL/ELL/BLE AND a minimum of 5 years experience teaching English learners.

Grand Canyon University is in search of an Online Adjunct Instructor who is qualified to instruct the courses listed below.

TSL-565: ELL and Bilingual Assessment

"In this course, educators will explore the principles of (or for) evaluating and structuring assessments. Educators will examine assessment for the purposes of identification, placement, and instructional delivery. Emphasis will be placed on learning ways to integrate assessment procedures into any curriculum and designing assessment tasks that allow for improved learning of all students."

TSL-532: Foundations of Instruction for English Language Learners

"This course provides foundational knowledge of policies and instructional programs for English language learners (ELLs) in the United States. Emphasis will be placed on understanding, comparing, and evaluating current language models. Educators will be introduced to instructional strategies and professional development opportunities. Focus will be placed on advocating for bilingual education (BLE), ELLs, and families."

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:

  • Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom.
  • Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes.
  • Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
