BBPOS products are used by large retailers and leading online platforms across multiple industries.  BBPOS is engaged in the business of manufacturing and supplying mobile and smart point-of-sale hardware, and the underlying software and infrastructure to deploy, manage, and monitor those devices.  BBPOS is now part of Stripe’s Terminal business since the acquisition in March 2022.  

About the team

Post acquisition, the BBPOS team is now an extension of the Stripe Terminal team. Stripe Terminal helps Stripe users extend their online presence into the physical world. The Terminal Team’s mission is to make it as easy for businesses to accept in-person payments as the Stripe API has done for online payments. With Terminal, businesses can unlock in-person payments use cases that are right for their business model—whether it’s creating a flagship retail experience, extending their website to a pop-up store, or enabling a mobile point-of-sale at their next event. Stripe Terminal is built atop the Stripe Payments Platform, letting businesses maintain a single view of their customers and sales across online and offline channels. They can also take advantage of Stripe’s integrated payments capabilities, including initiating a subscription in-store with Stripe Billing and letting SaaS platforms and marketplaces accept in-person payments with Stripe Connect.

Who you are

We are seeking a Senior Reliability Lab Engineer with extensive experience in managing product reliability excellence.  This role focuses on product reliability designing, developing and life prediction from NPI to MP cycle; the successful candidate will be a key driver in ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our products through strategic planning and in-depth analysis of testing processes. This role requires a deep understanding of electromechanical consumer systems, strong analytical skills and a proven ability to lead and collaborate within a cross-functional team environment.  

What you will do:

• Cooperate with RnD and quality to develop and implement NPI product verification and validation strategies aligned with product development roadmaps and business objectives.
• Define test scope, acceptance criteria, and required test methodologies based on product requirements and risk assessments.
• Create detailed test plans and procedures that effectively evaluate product performance, reliability, and safety under various operating and environmental conditions.
• Define and develop test methods including methodologies, acceleration models, run life estimation and risk assessment base on data analysis
• Stay abreast of new and evolving customer’s standards or IEC/ISO standards and regulations and implement changes as needed.

Minimum requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product reliability design, development, specifically in verification and validation testing of electromechanical products. Experience with consumer electronics or appliances is highly preferred.
• Deep understanding of the product verification and validation lifecycle, including developing and implementing various test methodologies (performance, reliability, safety). Knowledge of acceleration modes, relevant industry standards and regulations.
• In-depth understanding of consumer product mechanics, electrical systems, and materials.
• Proficiency in using testing equipment and instruments relevant to POS testing. Familiarity with statistical methods and data analysis by using JMP tool
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes of failures and develop effective solutions. Ability to assess test results and identify areas for improvement.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese
• 30% travelling is required

Preferred qualifications: 

• Familiar with POS reliability testing
• Good communication and technical based negotiation experience;
• Familiarity with Weibull++, CAD, CREO, Cadence, labview tools
• Familiarity with FA process on enclosure, PCBA, and/or Battery and TDM.
