Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Reliability Engineer works with all functions in the business, notably Engineering, Operations, Product Management and R&D (Chemistry Technology Development and Process Development), and is responsible for:
Project Reliability Strategy & Design:
Facilitate and guide Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) sessions for new capital projects and existing high-criticality systems.
Evaluate equipment design & layouts during the design phase for accessibility and maintainability and provide recommended design changes for identified improvements.
Provide technical guidance to project teams in the identification of potential reliability concerns and design changes to improve all process reliability.
Complete critical spare needs evaluations for new capital projects. Assist in quoting, procurement and tracking of critical spares.
Develop initial inspection, testing and maintenance plans, including frequencies and required tasks, for all assets in new capital projects.
Compile critical asset data for new projects and format for entry in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance System).
Develop Process Capacity Mapping and initial project acceptance criteria for all new projects.
Existing Operations Support:
Investigate and analyze plant equipment failures by collecting failure causes, process data and equipment information. Develop and recommend solutions in design, maintenance procedures or equipment selections.
Guide Root Cause Analysis into critical equipment failures. Use data-driven methods to identify systemic issues, implement permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence and leverage the lessons learned to similar equipment globally.
Asset Lifecycle Cost:
Develop approaches for projecting asset lifecycle costs beginning in the design stages through asset end of life.
Use KPI (e.g. Equipment Availability (uptime), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)), historical data and industry standards to inform and guide decisions on equipment selection.
Technical Mentorship:
Provide supportive guidance to junior engineers and maintenance technicians. Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for equipment selection to ensure reliability. Support Plant Operations & Maintenance functions by providing technical guidance on equipment operation and maintenance procedures as priorities and opportunities allow.
Global Support:
Position will be required to provide remote support to all ALAM projects globally which will require guiding and participating in technical discussions outside of normal business hours.
Infrequent travel to international locations may be required.
Required Experience/ Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
7+ years in a reliability or maintenance engineering role within a heavy industrial environment (Semiconductor, Fine Chemical preferred).
Experience in facilitating FMEA (AIAG-VGA method preferred).
Experience developing maintenance procedures.
Experience in generation of critical spare part recommendations based on failure analysis.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
Willing to have remote cross-continental meetings (between US and APAC), especially during critical phases of projects.
Proficiency in CMMS (eMaint, SAP, Maximo).
