A Finance Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering multiple complex projects that support enterprise finance initiatives. This role provides oversight across diverse workstreams, digital and non-digital, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and Finance PMO standards. The Senior Project Manager drives integrated planning, scope and RAID management, and milestone tracking while managing interdependencies across projects. They partner closely with internal teams and external vendors for system integrations, implementations, and rollouts, maintaining program financials and reporting progress to stakeholders and finance leadership. Success requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence at all levels. A PMP certification is preferred but not required.
Essential Duties:
Project Planning: 10%
- Develop and execute project plans for Finance and Accounting led or impacting initiatives revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Facilitate the definition of project scope and objectives.
- Maintain project risk, assumption, issue, and decision (RAID) logs.
- Schedule and manage project meetings.
- Collaborate with Finance leadership, regional and enterprise Finance, and non-team members to ensure deliverables and resource requirements are properly planned for, and projects are delivered on time and
Project Resourcing: 10%
- Engage and allocate resources that are required to deliver the project and meet schedule, cost, and risk objectives.
- Ensure work within vendor SOWs is delivered as contracted, on time, and on budget.
- Manage and prioritize workload of self/team and delegate where appropriate, considering team member strengths and development needs.
- Motivate and empower effective work teams to perform effectively, foster collaboration and accountability.
Managing Projects: 30%
- Leverage project management with best practices to track progress and drive results toward overall project objectives.
- Act as relationship manager for assigned projects, providing start-to-finish oversight through delivery of all project deliverables, including coordination, workflow and handoffs, risks, and issue management.
- Acts as primary point of project support for project sponsors; establishing critical stakeholders and engaging timely is crucial to success.
- Consistently plan, monitor, and manage time, scope, resources, and budget.
- Build strong relationships and foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders to instill trust.
- Ensure the right level of meetings and project communication is established along with project governance.
Project Delivery: 25%
- Manage project/change requests effectively and efficiently while maintaining a high level of proficiency.
- Lead projects from design through development, implementation, and transition to operational support within scope, timeline, and budget.
- Plan, lead, and provide oversight for driving multiple complex projects to completion; identify and resolve issues; monitor and address constraints/risks; anticipate and clearly communicate needs.
- Create, maintain, and track all project documentation to support governance, reporting, and knowledge sharing.
- Partner with IT teams, business units, and third-party vendors to ensure continuous progress on project activities.
- Effectively manage change and identify/mitigate project risks and issues.
Project Reporting: 10%
- Provide program/project status reporting and updates using appropriate communication methods to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable information that meets stakeholder and leadership needs.
Project Leadership: 10%
- Mentor and support other project managers.
- Promote continuous improvement and excellence in project delivery.
- Facilitate cross-functional project teams and stakeholder meetings, communications, and follow-up.
- Provides departmental operations support by managing assigned projects within the Finance Portfolio.
Other duties as assigned: 5%
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Preferred:
- Finance or business-related degree or experience.
- PMI certification (PMP, PMI-ACP) or other relevant Agile project management certifications.(CSM, CSPO).
TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS
Required:
- Experience leading multiple large projects with budgets over $200,000.
- Experience delivering digital products and services.
- Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, Disciplined Agile, SAFe).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to create effective documents, and review them with key project stakeholders and multiple levels of the organization.
- Experience managing multiple projects with moderate to high risk.
- Experience managing projects utilizing Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience interacting with and managing expectations of senior level management.
- Effective organization and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work within multiple levels of the firm.
- Ability to deal with a variety of personalities.
Preferred:
- Experience with a mid to large size firm(s) in professional services.
- Experience in a highly matrixed structure as well as experience working with Finance.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
- 8-10 years of project management experience.
- 3-5 years of Agile experience.
- Microsoft Office skills (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams SharePoint, OneNote).

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $120,000 - $205,200
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
