Job Description

Ameriprise Financial has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to help build a new, well controlled project intake and delivery program. In this role, you’ll collaborate on program design, lead multiple concurrent small- and mid-sized initiatives, and ensure projects are delivered on time using established project management methodologies and tools. You’ll partner closely with business sponsors to align on objectives and deliverables, develop comprehensive project plans, and support a scalable program that strengthens how key decisions are made across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead medium- to large‑scope business projects, often involving cross-functional partners across Finance and other teams.

  • Develop and improve project intake procedures, tools, and templates that support multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Define project objectives, scope, timelines, and success measures in partnership with sponsors.

  • Build and maintain comprehensive project plans to ensure milestones stay on track and risks are proactively managed.

  • Provide clear, consistent project communication, including status updates, issue escalation, and risk mitigation plans.

  • Manage projects within Ameriprise’s project delivery framework, systems, and standard methodologies.

  • Continuously look for ways to enhance the program as needs evolve.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)

  • 7–10 years of relevant project/program management experience

  • Strong proficiency with industry-standard project management tools

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, MS Project, and similar project management technologies

  • Proven track record of leading medium to large projects from initiation through implementation

  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with ability to tailor messaging to a broad audience

  • Ability to identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies



Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Prior experience in the financial services industry

In-Office Collaboration

We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders — clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $107,000 - $147,100 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
