About the role

AGL has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager [24-Month Fixed Term] to lead delivery of our Kwinana Swift Gas 2 expansion - one of Western Australia’s most significant fast‑start gas‑fired firming projects.

This 24‑month role will see you manage the installation and commissioning of four new Siemens turbines on a complex brownfield site, directly supporting the state’s energy transition and reliability needs.

Location

Based in Perth and working on site at Kwinana, you’ll be at the centre of a major brownfield gas‑fired development.

You’ll work closely with the OEM (Siemens), D&C Contractor, Owner’s Engineer and the existing K1 operations team. Perth offers an excellent lifestyle with great amenities, coastal living, and proximity to Western Australia’s world‑class natural environments.

At AGL, we value practical problem‑solvers, strong communicators, and people who thrive in complex delivery environments. You’ll be supported by a collaborative and highly capable project, engineering and construction leadership team.

Project context

Kwinana Swift Gas 2 is a major brownfield expansion of the existing K1 fast‑start plant, adding four Siemens gas turbines under a split‑contract model - Siemens supplying the turbines which will be installed by our D&C contractor with oversight from our Owner’s Engineer.

The site involves significant interface management between the OEM, D&C contractor, AEMO, grid connection partners, operational K1 teams, and OEM commissioning crews.

This role requires a highly proactive, on‑the‑ground leader who can manage construction activities, sequencing, brownfield constraints, and contractor performance day‑to‑day.

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Project Manager, you will lead the safe, on‑time and on‑budget delivery of the Kwinana Swift Gas 2 project. You’ll oversee construction execution, performance management and assurance, while coordinating multiple contractors and technical partners across a complex brownfield site.

Your focus will include:

  • Driving strong safety leadership and embedding a proactive HSE culture across all site teams

  • Leading a multidisciplinary project team and fostering collaboration, performance and accountability

  • Managing major contracts, split‑contract interfaces, commercial risk, variations and claims

  • Overseeing project controls, budgets, forecasting and reporting in a fast‑moving environment

  • Leading project execution across design integration, procurement, construction and commissioning

  • Managing regulatory, grid and operational interfaces including AEMO, connection partners and K1 operations

  • Ensuring compliance with all permits, approvals, standards and delivery milestones

  • Proactively identifying and mitigating project, interface and sequencing risks

  • Being physically present on site to resolve issues quickly, maintain momentum and support contractor performance

What you’ll bring

  • Experience delivering major projects (> $200m), ideally in gas turbines, oil & gas, power generation, turbomachinery, or heavy industrial plants

  • Strong brownfield construction experience and confidence working on constrained operational sites

  • Proven ability to manage split‑contract delivery models (OEM + D&C + operator + grid partners)

  • Hands‑on, proactive leadership style — visible, decisive, adaptable, and solutions‑focused

  • Strong collaboration skills with contractors and technical partners

  • Proven capability managing commercial, contractual and operational pressures simultaneously

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder and interface management skills

  • Strong HSE leadership and the ability to embed safety in every aspect of delivery

  • Engineering degree strongly preferred (mechanical or electrical highly relevant); project management qualifications advantageous

  • Candidates from trade backgrounds will be considered with substantial major project delivery experience

At AGL, we offer a wide range of benefits including:

  • Flexible working options.

  • Discounts on energy, telcos and solar plans.

  • Participate in Energise - our reward & recognition program.

  • Play an active role in our diversity & inclusion initiatives.

  • Novated leasing and Electric Vehicle subscriptions.

*Benefits may change over time and vary based on role type and location.
