The Opportunity
The Senior Project Advisor provides expert leadership and assurance across complex, large‑scale capital projects, ensuring alignment with organizational governance requirements and the Project Delivery System (PDS). This role supports growth projects through rigorous stage‑gate readiness assessments, risk identification, and mitigation planning, while promoting consistency, transparency, and accountability in project execution. Acting as a trusted advisor and ambassador for Project Governance & Assurance, the Senior Project Advisor mentors project teams, drives continuous improvement, facilitates stakeholder collaboration, and delivers PDS training to strengthen project outcomes across the organization.
What you’ll do
- Mentorship and Leadership – provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a collaborative work environment. Lead by example and provide professional development within the team.
- Project Governance and Assurance – ensure all growth projects (level C/D/E) comply with organizational policy, industry standards, regulatory requirements. Maintain transparency and accountability in all project dealings
- Continuous Improvement – drive continuous improvement initiatives within the project team, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing best practices
- Client Satisfaction – maintain strong relationships with clients and address and feedback or concerns promptly.
- Lead various activities related to maintaining the Project Delivery System(PDS).
- Facilitate coordination with diverse stakeholders and project management practitioners.
- Collaboratively engage with Business Units and other stakeholders to ensure effective adoption and application of PDS processes and tools.
- Act as an ambassador for Project Governance and Assurance, ensuring effective communication of PDS.
- Promote a consistent approach in advising project teams on risks, deficiencies, and recommended mitigation actions.
- Lead and/or support Project Advisors in preparing for Stage-Gate reviews.
- Assist project teams in risk identification and development of mitigation strategies, ensuring that mitigations meet requirements to advance the project through the stage gating process.
- Provide critical and experienced assessments of project readiness for stage-gate advancement, recognizing the critical role of Assurance in managing project risks and ensuring project success.
- Contribute to team planning and scheduling of Project Governance and Assurance activities. Make recommendations and identify resourcing requirements to ensure effective program delivery.
- Provide training on PDS to the organization
Minimum Qualification
- A bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Engineering.
- At least 15 years of direct project development and execution experience involving wide range of highly complex scopes, including the upstream or midstream energy sector, with additional experience in the power and storage (renewables) sector considered beneficial.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager with principal accountability for managing major capital projects is preferred.
- At least ten years of experience within an organization that has a defined governance program and a structured Stage-Gate project development and execution process.
- Risk Management – proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks. Ability to review risk management plans and identify/evaluate mitigations to minimize impact.
- Stakeholder Engagement – strong skills in communicating and collaborating with stakeholders. Ability to maintain positive relationships.
- Demonstrated strong abilities in prioritizing and organizing work
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and Management
- Demonstrated strong sense of collaboration, an aptitude for conflict resolution, and the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Demonstrated high level of tolerance to ambiguity with a bias towards action, and strong facilitation skills with a problem-solving mindset
- Proficiency using MS Office suite of software products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and other)
- Strong understanding of commercial project drivers and the criticality of underlying project economics
- Demonstrated competence with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) fundamentals
- Demonstrated competence with project controls, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, risk management strategies, and stakeholders’ engagement
- Demonstrated customer-focused mindset

- Hands-on experience on complex and difficult multi-disciplinary projects would be an asset
