Senior Product Designer
Are you excited by the opportunity to work at the intersection of financial services, customer experience and innovation? We’re looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer to join our Product Design Chapter for the Digital and Automated Lending team.
See yourself in our team
At CommBank, we’re reimagining banking to deliver smarter, more seamless business lending experiences for our customers and empower our people. In the role of Senior Product Designer, you’ll be instrumental in crafting seamless, accessible, and impactful digital/staff experiences for millions of Australians every day.
You are someone who thrives working end-to-end — from discovery, research and service design to UX/UI design and delivery — and will join our collaborative, customer-focused product team. You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business SMEs in an agile environment to deeply understand customer needs, translate insights into elegant, scalable solutions, and drive outcomes that deliver real customer and business value. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on design execution, and you’ll be a key voice in shaping the product and the broader customer experience.
Do work that matters
Own and lead the product design process for key features and improvements.
Translate insights into concepts, user flows, scrappy prototypes through explorations and ideation to test hypotheses and validate assumptions that bring stakeholders and leadership confidence in recommended solutions
Create engaging wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UX/UI designs, that maintain consistency with our design system, ensuring solutions are desirable for customers and feasible for engineering to achieve key business metrics
Apply systems thinking and design thinking techniques to shape an offering that must anticipate the needs of customers in a digital/physical service environment, and the staff that serve them.
Collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders inc. Product Managers, Engineers, Content designers, Accessibility managers, and Legal/Risk throughout the agile lifecycle
Champion customer-centricity and advocate for best-in-class user experience at every stage of the product discovery and development process, ensuring products/services are usable by all customers through accessibility/inclusivity
Contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions by grounding decisions in customer insights, design thinking, user behaviour data and a “test and learn” mindset
Facilitate and participate in design critiques, workshops, and agile ceremonies, providing and receiving actionable feedback according to our design standards to continuously improve outcomes.
Contribute to evolving our design system for consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
Measure and validate impact post-launch, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative insights to iterate and improve solutions.
We are interested in people who have:
7+ years of experience designing digital/staff products end-to-end in cross-functional product teams.
Proven ability to lead discovery and delivery activities with customers, product, and engineering stakeholders.
Deep understanding of human-centred design methodologies and how to apply and execute them pragmatically in a fast-paced agile environment.
Excellent interaction and UI design skills, with an eye for detail and craft.
Experience designing for complex systems, services, or platforms, not just isolated features.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills — you’re as comfortable sketching ideas on a whiteboard with engineers as you are presenting strategic concepts to executives.
Expertise in Figma & Experience using AI tooling like Figma Make
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, balancing customer needs with business goals.
Experience with metrics-driven product development (e.g., running experiments, A/B testing, usage funnels data).
Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design thinking, exceptional craft, and measurable impact across both mobile and desktop platforms
Experience working in Financial Service, or another industry that combines physical and digital services, ideal but not required.
Exposure to design systems management and contribution, ideal but not required.
