Ello

Senior Producer, AI & Creative Production

San Francisco, US Contract

Our mission at Ello is simple and urgent: Maximize the potential of every child, everywhere.

We’re building the world’s first AI teacher to close that gap: one that listens, speaks, adapts, and inspires, just like the best human educators.

Our first product, Read with Ello, is already helping tens of thousands of kids each week learn to read. It listens as they read aloud, offers support when they stumble, and generates magical, personalized stories using generative AI. It works—and kids love it.

Now, we’re scaling that success into something even bigger: a complete AI teacher for all children. We’re building a real-time learning platform—one that combines language, speech, and memory to power personalized, interactive education for kids worldwide. We’re moving fast: we ship weekly, test directly with kids and families, and push the boundaries of what AI can do in education.

With the resources of the world's top investors and the heart of a public benefit corporation, we’re here to revolutionize how children learn globally. Featured on TIME’s Best Inventions and Fortune’s Change the World, Ello is a small, mission-driven team taking on one of the most important challenges of our time: to democratize education.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Producer to scale Ello’s creative and AI-powered production pipelines. This role sits at the intersection of product, AI systems, and creative content production—transforming ideas, experiments, and prototypes into production-ready experiences that make learning joyful for millions of children. This is a full-time contract role (2+ months with potential to convert) based in our SF office, starting immediately.

You will work closely with designers, illustrators, animators, engineers, and PMs, helping teams move quickly by embedding AI into every workflow you touch while maintaining the quality bar Ello’s kids and families deserve. You bring not just organizational firepower but a genuine design eye—you can tell when something looks right, give useful creative feedback, and help hold the quality bar across visual and content outputs.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in startup environments, loves building production systems from scratch, and is energized by the future of AI-assisted creative work.

What You’ll Do

Own Production Pipelines

  • Build and manage end-to-end production workflows for creative and educational content, from concept through integration and release.
  • Track assets across every stage and identify bottlenecks before they become blockers.
  • Establish scalable documentation, standards, and asset management systems so Ello can grow content creation without sacrificing quality.

Drive AI-Embedded Workflows

  • Set up and optimize automation systems using AI and the latest available tooling.
  • Help operationalize AI-assisted content pipelines, including generative illustration and AI-powered asset workflows.
  • Partner with creative and product teams to integrate AI outputs smoothly into production.

Lead Cross-Functional Production

  • Coordinate work across Design, Product, Engineering, and Learning Design teams.
  • Oversee external freelancers, vendors, and production partners as needed.
  • Translate product goals into clear production plans, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Identify risks early and proactively solve production challenges before they impact timelines.
  • Act as the connective tissue between creative vision and technical execution—ensuring alignment and clear communication throughout every project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in creative production, game production, app production, or a closely related field.
  • Proven track record managing complex, high-volume production timelines and asset pipelines.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams including designers, engineers, artists, and external vendors.
  • Hands-on experience working with AI-assisted creative workflows – whether that’s generative media tools, AI-powered content pipelines, or integrating machine learning outputs into production workflows.
  • A strong design eye—you can give useful creative feedback, recognize when quality is off, and advocate for the visual and experiential bar.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with a bias toward clear systems and documentation.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by environments where the playbook doesn’t exist yet.
  • Familiarity with tools like Notion, Linear/Jira, Figma, or asset management systems.

Nice to Have

  • Background in animation, game production, or children’s media.
  • Experience in edtech or AI consumer products.

We Look for Candidates Who

  • Treat chaos as a design problem: you walk into a messy pipeline and immediately start building structure, not waiting to be told where to start.
  • Are genuinely AI-native: you've built workflows from scratch with AI in the loop, not just experimented with tools.
  • Earn trust fast, especially with design and product partners: you know how to translate between creative instinct and production constraints without creating friction.
  • Have a real design eye: you can look at an asset or a child-facing experience and know when something is off, and you flag it clearly and early.
  • Care deeply about who's on the other end of this work – millions of kids who deserve a great education, regardless of where they're born.

Reasons to Join Us

  • Work at the intersection of AI, creative production, and early education — three fields transforming simultaneously.
  • Do meaningful work that gives every kid access to a great education, regardless of their zip code.
  • Play a central role in building AI-driven creative production infrastructure from the ground up.
  • Be part of a small, tight-knit team where your impact is visible and your voice matters.
