Senior Procurement Operations Manager - Cross Category

The Cross Categories Procurement Operations team is enabling the Delivery Procurement capability by focusing on continuous improvement and excellence of core procurement processes and solutions that underlie the execution of procurement activities like category management, sourcing, supplier management, contracting, and content management. This role also performs/ guides/ supports various Global Procurement/ Site-specific operations management activities per the assigned scope.

The capability owns the procurement process and system for the Delivery sites, provides subject matter expertise on various areas like upstream, downstream, direct procurement, content, and e-sourcing, and has oversight on the deployment and adoption of the various processes and systems by the Delivery capability to advance toward the chapter vision. The capability also provides general Delivery execution support as needed.

This position is part of the Procurement Operations Cross Categories team reporting into the Cross-Category Operations Management Team Lead.

You will work closely with procurement, IT, Roche Services & Solutions (incl. business process management, project management, regional solution centers), and other relevant colleagues either as a peer, coach, project/workstream lead, or subject matter expert, to align on needs, opportunity identification, and priority to develop, enhance, or deploy enabling services and solutions and respective governance to our internal customers.

As a Sr. Procurement Operations Manager - Cross Category, you will play a variety of roles according to your experience, knowledge, and general requirements, such as:

  • Acting as domain knowledge and subject matter specialist, providing input, advice, and know-how on functional operations, automation, efficiency, and procurement processes.
  • Excellence practitioner identifying and facilitating continuous improvement opportunities, and overseeing Procurement delivery day-to-day operations.
  • Excellence advocate focused on harmonizing upstream practices and maximizing downstream automation. Responsible for delivering E2E procurement processes and solutions within the Delivery Chapter and driving continuous improvement in procurement operations.
  • Coordinate the identification, consolidation, validation, and submission of site-specific process and systems maintenance and enhancement requests for ongoing improvement. Conduct/ support User Acceptance Testing as needed.
  • Lead and/or support the implementation of, and compliance to regional process and policy changes, including local process documentation updates, localization, and training.
  • Manage/ Oversee / Support Operational Procurement Audit compliance i.e. vendor add/change audit activities, banking information verification audit, and other operational audit support.
  • Provide input into systems settings, including relevant local data, organizational setups (i.e. purchasing group, routing logic), and other information needed to operationalize systems.
  • Assisting with complex purchasing and with guiding Shared Service Center (Roche Services and Solutions) escalations as appropriate.
  • Conceptualizing and prototyping ideas by creating basic tools in partnership with stakeholders and procurement teams.

You will work within the broader global team and GP networks and squads to determine the other various roles needed to deliver project and foundational work. 

Who you are:

  • You hold a university degree, with a business or information technology degree preferable.
  • You also have 9+ years within procurement operational procurement, technology management, or process management, ideally in a matrix organization, and demonstrated deep conceptual knowledge and experience of procurement practices, processes and solution management and oversight. 

In addition, you have:

  • Ability to explain procurement operations and translate moderately complex stakeholder requirements.
  • Understanding of local process/system variations while maintaining a global process perspective.
  • Experience with Procurement Requisition, Procure-to-Pay processes, and enterprise P2P / eSourcing systems.
  • Experience in leading or supporting value improvement initiatives using Lean, Agile, or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Enterprise mindset with a strong focus on collaboration across the procurement network and broader organization to deliver value-driven solutions.
  • Business-level fluency in English (German is a plus for some roles).
