The Tactical Radars and Effectors Department within the Raytheon Mechanical Engineering (ME) Discipline is hiring a Senior Principal Engineer to support international supplier production or the Prime Power Unit (PPU).  In this role, this individual will act at the primary point of contact for all technical needs in support of the AN/TPY-2 localized PPU Program, including coordination with reach back support, interpretation and redlining of technical documentation.  This Program includes in-country fabrication of the PPU, managing the KSA supplier base to deliver qualified PPUs in all aspects of the production build leveraging existing build to print and acceptance test documentation.  The Localization Technical Lead is responsible for overseeing and providing technical guidance throughout the PPU production build, acceptance testing, and integration with the AN/TPY-2 system.  The Localization Technical Lead will work to address complex issues across multiple disciplines, utilizing experience and advanced knowledge, and communicate to all levels of the Leadership Team on this high visibility project for both internal and external briefings.  The technical lead will support coordination and special process qualifications, aid in training development and delivery, assist with improvements to existing processes to streamline future production, close supplier risk assessment gaps and facilitate in-country DD250 efforts utilizing KSA assets.

What You Will Do

  • Daily coordination with teams in Saudi Arabia and USA to discuss & prioritize tasking to build a locally sourced Prime Power Unit (PPU) for the AN/TPY-2 Radars.
  • Communicate with all levels of program leadership, including the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer on status and risk mitigation actions.
  • Own and improve development of cross-functional (CONUS/OCONUS) operating strategies to achieve optimal results for fabrication and delivery of future production units.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with the Raytheon AN/TPY-2 Surveillance Transportable Radar and in particular the PPU.
  • Experience installing and maintaining Mechanical/Electrical hardware for mission critical facilities or transportable shelters.
  • Extensive knowledge in production, fabrication, integration assembly, and manufacturing support experience with large complex assemblies.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel to supplier and customer sites in Saudi Arabia.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 10 years’ of prior work experience OR an Advanced degree and minimum 7 years’ of prior work experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with medium or high voltage mobile power systems
  • Demonstrated technical experience, within a factory or in the field during operation, maintenance, and sustainment of the AN/TPY-2 PPU or similar Major End Item (MEI)
  • Trained and experienced in the production, operation, sustainment and troubleshooting procedures of the AN/TPY-2 PPU or similar MEI.
  • Ability to synthesize and distill technical data and present material in a timely manner to all levels of leadership
  • Demonstrated experience as a technical point of contact with foreign end users.
  • General understanding of welding, PQRs, WMWR, & WPS.
  • Demonstrated experience across the hardware lifecycle (R&D, design, production, fielding, sustainment.)
  • Manufacturing Dev development
  • Tooling and fixturing experience.
  • Experience working with a sub-contractor – work with highly inexperienced sub-contractor develop standard procedures.
  • This effort requires RTX to teach a sub-contractor with no prior DoD manufacturing experience and limited manufacturing / process capabilities to build and deliver prime mission equipment to MIL standards.
  • Travel to KSA once per quarter for 2 weeks site trips
  • Knowledge of EXIM requirements, JCA process, RGEMS, etc.
  • Results oriented, diligent, and proactive in problem resolution; organized and self-directed; hands-on attitude
  • Ability to Interpret engineering drawing and electrical schematics when troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate problems encountered and recommend various solutions to all levels of executive management.
  • Knowledge in the utilization of common industry tools and manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills to drive cross-functional CONUS & OCONUS team performance, directing activities that have direct effect on achieving on time, compliant deliveries.
  • Program Management and Earned Value certification including experience with IMS, EACs, staffing, SOW, and weekly reporting to leadership.
  • Experience with drawing changes process through CCB

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
