Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Communications Representative to support one of its high-profile programs and capability areas. In this role, the candidate will lead the development and implementation of integrated communication strategies and plans that advance our brand and reputation as a leader in battle management command and control (C2) with support from cross-functional communications teams. The person will be responsible for developing and ensuring the proper message is delivered to target audiences across a variety of paid, earned and owned channels 

The role requires someone who is passionate about building and executing communications campaigns, translating complex subjects into compelling content, and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders. You will work closely with a cross-functional communications team and business leaders to create strategic, omni-channel communications that tell our story to key audiences, both externally and internally.   

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of C2 and air and missile defense, experience in media relations strategy, and a keen sense of how strategic communications can support business objectives  

This position will be located in Huntsville, AL. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans and campaigns aligned with key business priorities. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with program teams and other stakeholders to identify and capitalize on communications opportunities. 

  • Provide expert communications counsel and guidance to internal partners. 

  • Produce compelling, end-to-end content for multiple channels—including video, website copy, social media, tradeshows, and internal communications—based on customer and market insights. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support events in the Huntsville market, such as tradeshows, local media engagements, and facility tours. 

  • Prepare and train subject matter experts for media interviews and conduct interviews with reporters as needed. 

  • Coordinate content review and approval processes with relevant internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Ensure messaging consistency and integration across all communications platforms with meticulous attention to detail. 

  • Track, analyze, and report on campaign metrics to assess effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Experience working in large, geographically dispersed organizations or within the military, defense industry, and/or government sectors. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 plus years related experience; or Master's degree with 6 plus years related experience. Four additional years of experience can be in lieu of degree.

  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing integrated marketing and communications campaigns that deliver tangible business results. 

  • Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to oversee complex communications initiatives. 

  • Proven experience creating strategic communications plans for complex topics with clear, measurable outcomes. 

  • Exceptional writing skills, including proficiency in AP Style, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences. 

  • Experienced in upholding and enhancing communications standards, workflows, and branding guidelines across multiple media channels (digital, print, etc.). 

  • Skilled at cultivating relationships with executives, industry stakeholders, and the media. 

  • Strong background in program communications and/or marketing. 

  • Proficient in data analysis and presentation to support communications strategies and measure impact. 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to develop compelling presentations for executives and key influencers. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in public relations agencies and the aerospace and defense industry is a plus. 

 

Primary Level Salary Range: $112,200.00 - $168,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
