Senior Pricing Consultant

What you'll do:

The Pricing Strategy team is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the pricing strategy for CTR. Establishing a pricing strategy is crucial for Canadian Tire because it directly influences profitability, customer perception and market competitiveness. The Senior Pricing Consultant is a collaborative and outcomes-driven role. This individual should be comfortable with ambiguity, have an analytical mindset and the ability to turn data into insights, display curiosity and critical thinking, and be able to influence without authority through compelling story telling. This is a highly visible role across the organization that will allow you to make strong connections with business leaders.  You will have the opportunity to work independently with Managers and Associate Vice Presidents, and gain exposure to our Dealer network.

  • Create and maintain a strategy framework that can be applied to all categories across the organization
  • Collect, enhance and productionize data that is required to provide data driven price recommendations
  • Become experts on the products they support and the pricing strategies applicable to their categories
  • Act as a thought partner for our merchants, providing insights and action plans that will allow them to achieve their category objectives through optimized pricing
  • Work closely with the Pricing Operations, Market Intelligence & Pricing Governance teams to ensure our Pricing strategies are executable, align with our assortment planning strategies, and work within our governance structures
  • Various ongoing test & learn initiatives that will allow us to gain a clearer understanding of how the Dealer network, our customers, and the markets we play in react to changes in price
  • Create slides and presentation decks, as well as present the content to large audiences across many levels of the organization
  • Use communications and presentations to influence without authority to get alignment from Merchandising, and other cross functional teams, on key pricing strategy decisions

What you bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Merchandising, or Merchandising-related role (Pricing, Supply Chain, Promotional Planning, etc.)
  • University degree or College certificate in business administration, marketing, finance, economics or a related field
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI or ThoughtSpot, data analytics tools such as KNIME a strong asset
  • Extensive experience gathering and interpreting data
  • Understanding of product lifecycle, role, profile, elasticity, etc. and the impact of external factors; competitors, vendors, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at various levels within the organization
  • Thrives in a team environment through contributing to a shared team purpose, celebrating team achievements, and maintaining a positive working relationship with other team members (both on direct team and client teams)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced business environment, comfortable working in an ambiguous environment with rapidly changing priorities.

Our typical hiring range is between $64,000 and $106,000. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
