The FPS business has 2 main manufacturing and engineering hubs in Newcastle Upon Tyne (United Kingdom) and Niteroi (Brazil) with engineering offices co-located on both sites.

This role is within the Brazilian materials team located at Retic facility but is expected to form strong links with wider Technology and Supply chain organization across both of our manufacturing sites and our engineering office.
As Senior Polymer Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Supporting testing programmes with internal test facilities & external test houses including subsequent analysis and interpretation of test data for appropriate action and reporting.
Generating material qualification documents, procurement specification and technical reports related to full polymeric product range including extruded materials and tapes.
Support to polymer technology queries and clarifications as and when required from both internal/external customers
Carrying out investigation, analysis and reporting of product and process failures in support of both internal/external customers
Providing a materials consultancy service, as required, to internal & external customers
Supporting the full lifecycle of project execution from participation in core business bid kick-off meetings and project handover meetings to facilitate knowledge transfer of industry requirements through to manufacturing technical support and final customer acceptance.
Existing Vendor technical support, develop and maintain technical liaison with vendors as part of continuous improvement and respond to vendor polymer technology queries and clarifications as and when required
Undertaking specific activities related to specialist technical areas including but not limited to chemical compatibility evaluations for polymer exposures and permeation assessments for polymers for a range of gas species.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
Hold a BSc in Polymer Materials Science or a related Engineering degree with specialization in Materials or Polymer science through formal post graduate education (or college qualification) and formal training and experiential learning.
Discrete experience of permeation of gases (H2S, CO2 etc) through polymers and associated elements of chemical thermodynamics (Fugacity and consumption) would be considered beneficial but not essential to this role.
Worked at an engineering level, demonstrating an increased level of engineering practice and responsibility, development of others and showing leadership.
