The role:
Join ODOT as a Senior Network Administrator and play a key role working with agency internal and external customers to complete network projects that bring value to the agency and its mission, and to assist agency personnel, including other information systems partners, with network related matters that affect ODOT systems and services. In this senior technical position, you’ll design, implement, and maintain complex systems that span multiple divisions across the agency. You’ll provide expert guidance to IT teams, lead large-scale infrastructure initiatives, and serve as a trusted advisor to management on network architecture and operations. A day in the life:
Independently diagnose network equipment problems using discretion and judgment to coordinate solutions; track and report equipment and system problems; test new features; physical repair and replacement; conduct training of other technical staff on the use of hardware and software.
Test and evaluate network equipment, architecture, and strategies.
Develop recommendations and production configurations.
Work with all ODOT business groups and deliver, as required: technical network analysis, research, evaluation, documentation and recommendations.
Analyze resource utilization, traffic volume and system performance; make recommendations for LAN/WAN bandwidth circuit upgrades.
Test solutions against existing systems and evaluate them for adoption.
Write multi-site, multi-platform plans for service implementation and upgrades.
Develop network equipment configurations.
Manage network access control and network security configuration, and perform installations, system recovery and restart, system upgrades and migrations, and system performance monitoring.
Work with EIS network personnel for the provisioning of circuits, installation or repair of data communications network equipment.
Work in an office environment with hybrid work options available.

Minimum qualifications:
Six (6) years’ of information systems experience in: network configuration and administration.
OR
An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of information systems experience in: network configuration and administration.
OR
A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in: network configuration and administration.
OR
Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Experience independently diagnosing network equipment problems, developing and documenting network architectural, operational and monitoring plans that ensure overall system performance, reliability and security.
Experience developing and executing network lifecycle plans including managing change awareness, hardware installation, testing, troubleshooting, system recovery, upgrades, migrations and performing system performance monitoring.
Experience gathering system requirements from business/customers, communicating solutions to obtain agreement and budget approvals, tracking equipment deliveries and deployments.
