Senior Market Risk Specialist - Enterprise Counterparty Risk Management (ECRM) Credit Risk & Approval

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Market Risk Specialist to support the Enterprise Counterparty Risk Management (ECRM) Credit Risk & Approval team to provide credit approval coverage for Municipal Products Group (MPG) and Counterparty Credit Management (CCM) portfolios.  ECRM provides credit approval, governance, oversight, monitoring, and reporting of counterparty credit risk generated by the firm’s trading and sales businesses. This role will support the review, credible challenge, and approval/denial of credit approval requests generated from Counterparty Credit Management (CCM) and Municipal Products Group (MPG) underwriters. 

In this role, you will:

  • Review, credibly challenge, and approve/deny credit approval requests generated from Counterparty Credit Management (CCM) and Municipal Products Group (MPG) underwriters
  • Act as key participant in the review/approval process
  • Review complex credit analyses and processes to ensure that risks are properly identified and consistent with policy
  • Collaborate and consult with manager to effectively manage the development, application, and approval of credit risk analysis. 
  • Lead or participate in risk program development or maintenance and provide oversight of market, interest rate and counterparty risk activities within Market Risk
  • Contribute to evaluating and approving risk models related to risk management framework
  • Evaluate and approve moderately complex trading models, market risk, basis risk, delivery risk and counterparty aggregated credit risk exposure on a daily or long-range basis for specific financial products
  • Consult and implement initiatives with moderate to high risk and lead team to meet market risk deliverables
  • Leverage solid understanding of risk management challenges and provide input with focus on risk disclosures, remediation, due diligence, suitability, and reputation risk
  • Collaborate and consult with management and board of directors to provide periodic or scheduled risk reports that present a companywide view of risk management

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, Capital Markets, market risk, interest rate risk or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience using data analysis to identify trends
  • Knowledge and understanding of credit risk analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills required to identify trends, define patterns and collaborate with stakeholders to assess credit risk profile of counterparty.
  • Ability to articulate and document complex concepts in a clear, concise manner
  • Intellectual curiosity with proven ability to learn quickly through others as well as to conduct their own research and analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, graphs, and formulas
  • Knowledge of Public Finance.
