About the Role
We’re looking for a senior leader to own all tax and regulatory compliance across TextNow’s business and product ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of telecom regulation and corporate tax, ensuring our offerings remain compliant across the U.S. and Canada while enabling innovation, transparency, and customer trust.
From product pricing to tax strategy, to audit-ready documentation and compliant billing experiences — you’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and CX to ensure TextNow continues to operate with integrity and clarity for our customers.
What You’ll Do
Product & Pricing Compliance
Establish structured processes to track and communicate pricing, product, and feature changes.
Ensure accurate SKU mapping and taxability settings in Avalara for U.S. & Canada.
Assess tax implications of new products, bundles, and promos with Product & Engineering.
Maintain standardized disclosures and ensure FCC/CRTC compliance for billing and communications.
Advise on pricing decisions and tax-related go-to-market strategy.
Telecom Tax Calculation, Reporting & Compliance
Oversee automated data flows to Avalara to ensure accurate real-time tax calculation and remittance.
Ensure accurate tax integration into NetSuite for reporting and audit readiness.
Build and maintain defensible tax allocation and apportionment methodologies.
Prepare, review, and file U.S. telecom tax returns (USF, FCC fees, 911 fees, utility/gross receipts taxes).
Prepare, review, and file Canadian federal and provincial telecom tax filings.
Own telecom tax reconciliations, approvals, and filing calendars.
Monitor U.S. & Canadian legislative changes and implement required updates.
Corporate Tax (U.S. & Canada)
Prepare and review corporate tax returns (U.S. federal/state/local + Canadian T2 and schedules).
Support quarterly and annual tax provisions under U.S. GAAP & Canadian standards.
Assist with IRS, state, CRA, and provincial audits, ensuring robust supporting documentation.
Partner on cross-border tax planning, entity structure, and transfer pricing strategies.
Support SR&ED claims and tax planning initiatives with telecom-specific inputs.
Maintain strong internal controls and complete tax-position documentation.
Customer-Facing Compliance
Maintain compliant customer-facing legal verbiage and disclosures across platforms.
Ensure accurate jurisdictional assignment and validation for telecom tax billing.
Partner with CX & Product to design compliant billing flows and notifications.
Provide SME support for tax-related escalations and inquiries.
Ensure data retention policies meet regulatory and audit requirements.
Data Governance & Privacy
Maintain accurate jurisdictional reporting of access lines and customer attribution.
Ensure secure handling of PII/KYC data related to billing and taxation.
Establish audit trails and documentation for regulatory reviews.
Who You Are
5+ years experience in U.S. & Canadian telecom tax compliance and regulatory filings.
Deep knowledge of FCC/state and CRTC/provincial telecom requirements.
Skilled at partnering with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment.
Analytical mindset with strong documentation and methodology-building strengths.
Hands-on experience with Avalara, NetSuite, and supporting tax/financial systems.
Able to simplify complexity and build scalable, repeatable processes.
Detail-oriented and proactive — you stay ahead of evolving regulation.
Excellent communicator with comfort engaging technical and non-technical audiences.

Canada (CAD) Salary Range: $156,000 - $224,000
US– National (USD): $154,000 - $220,000
Final compensation will be determined based on a number of factors, including skills, experience, location and on-the-job performance. We’re committed to paying competitively to hire and retain high-caliber talent.
