As our Senior manager of our Sustainability Excellence Team, you will have a broad range of responsibilities – and you be our lead expert on sustainability compliance.

In this uniquely positioned role, you will guide a newly formed team, ensure cross-functional collaboration, and ensure that our organization stays ahead of rapidly evolving sustainability and ESG regulations. 

As Senior Manager of Sustainability Excellence in Global Operations, you will support the GO journey to build an organizational maturity and proficiency in improving GO Sustainability Performance.  

In collaboration with your team members, you will ensure that the GN Group has robust processes to assess compliance risks, close regulatory gaps, and implement effective sustainability projects and reporting systems. You will represent the GN Compliance Framework and shape operational practices, helping the business respond effectively to new obligations.

The team you will be part of: 

At our global HQ, located in Ballerup, Denmark, you will report to the Senior Director of Strategy Management Office (SMO) and closely collaborate with the Sustainability Manager in GO, while collaborating with relevant functions across Global Operations, Group Sustainability, and R&D. 

You will join SMO a global, diverse and versatile team developing and coordinating the execution of our GO Strategy.  

Your contribution is appreciated, and you will: 

 Leadership & Team Development  

  • Lead, mentor, and cultivate the Sustainability Excellence Team within SMO and Global Operations, promoting an engaged and cooperative team environment

  • Shape the team’s mandate, roles, and ways of working as part of a newly established function. 

  • Ensure internal alignment by ensuring transparency regarding priorities across sustainability SMEs in Global Operations and with Group Sustainability. 

  • Act as an area lead for sustainability compliance in GO, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and an effective internal governance setup. 

  • Manage key internal sponsors and stakeholders, ensuring transparency, engagement, and support for sustainability compliance initiatives. 

  • Ensure communication and change efforts within GO to inform about sustainability objectives, strategy, progress, and key actions. 

  • Act as an internal subject-matter expert on environmental, social, and product related compliance requirements and legislation. 

  • Provide targeted training, materials, and guidance to GO teams to enhance understanding sustainability and product-related legislation

  • Coordinate external communication efforts related to GO sustainability objectives, strategies, and actions where relevant. 

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight 

  • Maintain diligent oversight of global ESG and sustainability legislation, with a focus on EU frameworks and relevant international equivalents

  • Participate in regulatory monitoring networks and forums to stay informed and anticipate upcoming policy developments. 

  • Use specialized tools (e.g., C2P or similar) to monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory updates to internal stakeholders. 

  • Translate complex legislative requirements into clear, actionable guidance for operations, purchasing, product management, and other stakeholders. 

  • Serve as an internal subject-matter expert on selected environmental, social, and product-related sustainability compliance. 

  • Maintain, oversee, and continuously improve compliance processes and documentation related to sustainability reporting obligations

  • Ensure legal requirements are effectively integrated into operational processes, and that data structures and reporting processes align with regulatory standards. 

  • Manage or support internal gap analyses and compliance risk assessments, identifying required actions and ensuring systematic follow-up. 

  • Contribute to developing and maintaining internal policies, standard operating procedures, templates, and internal control mechanisms within the GN Compliance Governance Framework. 

To perform well in the role, we imagine that you: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, Environmental Law, Sustainability, Business Management or other relevant field of study.  

  • 6+ years of experienceworking with regulatory compliance or sustainability law in an international context (in-house, consulting, or public sector). 

  • Ability to analyse and interpret legislationand translate requirements into practical business actions. 

  • Experience with regulatory monitoring systems(e.g., C2P or similar) and participation in industry or policy monitoring forums

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (spoken and written) - where candidates with additional language fluency are encouraged to apply: Able to summarize complex legal content for non-legal audiences. 

  • Structured, insightful, and detail-oriented with organizational skills

  • Project management experience, with ability to manage cross-functional, multi-site initiatives. 

  • Experience working in a global organization and managing stakeholders and teams across regions.  

  • Leadership and ability to motivate teams and ensuring change across strategic stakeholders.

  • Critical thinking and data-driven mindset. with ability to identify opportunities for improvement. 

  • Adopts digitalization and is open to learning and applying AI-based solutions in everyday work.
