Job Title

Senior Manager, Platform Engineering

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Platform Engineering to lead and scale our platform engineering teams. This role will drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-performance platform services, while enabling product teams through strong technical leadership and execution excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Building
    • Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams
    • Build a high-performing, scalable organization
    • Drive accountability, ownership, and engineering excellence
  • Platform Strategy & Execution
    • Define and execute platform engineering strategy aligned with business goals
    • Drive development of core platform capabilities across Kubernetes, operating systems, and distributed systems
    • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of platform services
  • Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
    • Oversee design and operation of container orchestration (Kubernetes) and cloud-native platforms
    • Drive platform capabilities across compute, lifecycle management, orchestration, and APIs
    • Ensure strong integration between VM-based and containerized environments
  • DevOps & CI/CD Enablement
    • Partner with DevEx to establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and release processes
    • Drive adoption of infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation-first practices
    • Improve deployment velocity, reliability, and developer productivity
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Product, DevEx, Security, and other engineering teams
    • Drive alignment across teams and manage dependencies effectively
  • Delivery & Operational Excellence
    • Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery of platform initiatives
    • Establish strong engineering practices, metrics, and governance
    • Drive continuous improvement in development, testing, and release processes
  • Architecture & Technical Leadership
    • Provide guidance on system design, scalability, and reliability
    • Ensure alignment with central engineering standards and long-term architecture vision

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles
  • Proven experience building and scaling platform/infrastructure teams
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Kubernetes and container orchestration
    • Operating systems (Linux/Unix fundamentals)
    • Distributed systems and cloud platforms
    • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with automation, infrastructure as code, and modern development frameworks
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and execution leadership skills
