Senior Manager, Rail Transportation

Where will you work: This is an onsite position located at our NA business headquarters at 13830 Circa Crossing Drive | Lithia, FL.

Travel and geographical scope of role: 10% across the United States and Canada

As our Senior Manager, Rail Transportation, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the efficiency and reliability of our North American rail operations. From managing relationships with major railways and overseeing a fleet of 7,000 railcars to optimizing 60,000 rates, your work ensures our products reach customers seamlessly and cost-effectively. This is a leadership position where your expertise will influence strategy, drive performance, and open new market opportunities—keeping Mosaic competitive and connected.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive strategic relationships and lead negotiations with major rail carriers, while monitoring competitor shipping schedules, costs, and networks.

  • Collaborate with sales, product management, and customers, including senior executives, to identify opportunities and grow Mosaic’s business.

  • Maintain a strong industry presence and represent Mosaic on key committees, notably TFI.

  • Manage rate and fleet financial accountabilities to ensure cost efficiency and operational excellence.

  • Develop and coach team members to retain and grow organizational talent within the rail team.

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to ensure clarity of roles, responsibilities, and business objectives.

  • Address performance issues when necessary, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Partner with employees on career development plans and training to support long-term growth.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a major in Science, Logistics Operations, Business or related

  • 10+ years of transportation, logistics, supply chain or related

  • Ability to interface with senior level rail executives to solve problems through negotiations and other mechanisms

  • Proven negotiator & problem solver

  • Functions with all organizational levels

  • Solid communicator

  • Demonstrated analytical & finance skills

  • Demonstrated presentation & written communication skills-public speaking

  • Understands 3rd party Supply chain functions & tracking tools

Bonus points if you have the following:

  • Logistics/Supply chain experience, Railroad

  • Experience with SAP or other large ERP system
