As a key member of the Global Technology Operations team, you will oversee the Enterprise IT Asset Management (ITAM) function, which encompasses Software Asset Management (SAM), contract management, stakeholder engagement, and process optimisation to ensure the organisation’s IT assets are managed in line with compliance and lifecycle requirements. Your responsibilities will include architecting, executing, maintaining, and continually enhancing the organisation’s SAM framework and practices.

Job Description

  • Lead and serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Software Asset Management (SAM), taking full ownership of the design, development, deployment, and ongoing support of the company’s SAM needs. Ensure all practices are aligned with industry best standards, focusing on compliance with software license agreements and relevant regulations.

  • Establish, institutionalize, and govern the organizational SAM framework and policies, prioritizing the creation and enhancement of robust Software Asset Management capabilities.

  • Develop and communicate a clear strategy, vision, and roadmap for a sustainable, effective SAM practice, including identification and implementation of appropriate SAM tools, business case development, and leveraging influence to drive adoption and optimization.

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis to formulate strategies for managing the company’s software landscape, ensuring optimal utilization, compliance, and risk mitigation throughout the asset lifecycle.

  • Support related functions, such as IT inventory management, to enhance IT Service Management through accurate software asset tracking and integration.

  • Oversee remediation requirements, including tracking, facilitation, and documentation to demonstrate compliance with software asset regulations.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership by managing and mentoring a team of internal and external service providers, ensuring delivery meets organizational SAM objectives.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments—including finance, legal, procurement, and business stakeholders—to address SAM initiatives and challenges, driving alignment and value across the organization.

  • Remain informed of evolving industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in software asset management, proactively delivering strategic value propositions and identifying optimization opportunities for implementation.

Job Requirement

  • A bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required.

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Information Technology, including at least 7 years of specialized involvement in IT Asset Management (ITAM) with a concentration on Software Asset Management (SAM).

  • Familiarity with ITAM frameworks such as IAITAM, CSAM, CHAMP, or ISO standards is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in directing and guiding teams of internal and external ITAM professionals.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders across Legal, Business, Procurement, and IT Finance functions.

  • Proven ability to plan, communicate, and execute ITAM initiatives with precision and clarity.

  • Strong influencing skills to shape ITAM decisions, driving outcomes that provide organizational benefit.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, adept problem-solving capabilities, and strategic thinking.

  • Comprehensive understanding of IT audits, asset lifecycle management, and security and compliance requirements.

  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret, synthesize, and present data and actionable insights.

  • Proficiency in ITAM/ITSM tools including BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, Flexera, or other leading industry solutions.

  • Experience with the IBM Authorized SAM Program (IASP) and working knowledge of the ILMT tool is advantageous.

  • Expertise in software licensing and optimization for products from major vendors such as Microsoft, IBM, Redhat, Oracle, Citrix, VMware, BMC, Blueprism, and Adobe.

  • Solid experience managing assets hosted both in the cloud and on traditional on-premises environments.

  • A self-motivated, analytical, and results-driven approach, with a strong sense of ownership and perseverance.

  • Ability to develop and sustain strong relationships, confidently engaging across functions and communication channels.

  • Consistently delivers high-quality work with careful attention to detail and thoroughness.

  • Experience working within regulated, global organizations (such as financial institutions, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or similar sectors) is considered a plus.

  • At least 3 years’ experience managing and collaborating with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), including leading diverse technical teams, is an added advantage.
