About the Role

This position drives the analysis and evaluation ofAIA’s Investment ESG strategy. By conducting robust feasibility studies, scenario modeling, and portfolio performance assessments, the role translates high-level ESG commitments into actionable investment insights. The role is responsible for providing critical analytical leverage to the Investment ESG Oversight leadership, ensuring that strategic decisions are grounded in rigorous data analysis and technical standards (such as SBTi or alternatives, and IFRS S2).
Acting as an investment subject matter expert, –the role tracks investment performance against ESG commitments and prepares technical insights for senior governance forums. While contributing to external reporting though bottom-up data validation and integrity checks, the primary focus is on providing the analytical evidence that safeguards AIA’s reputation and ensures operational excellence in investment decision-making.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Direction-setting, prioritization and oversight:

  • Develop comprehensive execution plans for strategic priorities by breaking down high-level goals into tangible milestones to ensure the timely delivery of the Investment ESG roadmap.
  • Conduct detailed feasibility studies for proposed ESG commitments (e.g., Net Zero targets) by modeling scenarios and analysing portfolio implications to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Support Investment ESG oversight activities - with a specific focus on Direct Real Estate and Stewardship - by tracking implementation progress against the Target Operating Model and supporting the formulation of strategic roadmaps to achieve commitments.
  • Provide analytical leverage to the strategic lead by synthesising complex market trends and internal performance data into executive-level insights.

ESG Integration:

  • Support the operationalisation of ESG in investment mandates by validating that ESG constraints and targets are technically feasible, aligned with Group-level commitments, and accurately reflected in tracking systems.

Stewardship:

  • Track the quantitative aspects of Stewardship activities, ensuring that engagement and proxy voting data is accurately captured for oversight and eventual reporting purposes.

Transparency & Reporting:

  • Lead the analytical validation of data-based aspects of external reporting (including the ESG Report and Annual Report) by overseeing data collection and preparation workflows and ensuring rigorous validation checks.
  • Manage the technical requirements for regulatory submissions, ensuring that data delivery meets the specific formats and standards required by industry bodies and regulators.

Collaboration, Advocacy & Governance:

  • Prepare high-quality materials and technical analysis for internal committees (e.g., Investment ESG Management Working Group, Group Investment Committee & sub-Committees) to facilitate productive structured dialogues.
  • Coordinate the logistical and content aspects of the Investment Governance Framework (IGF) audits, acting as the primary point of contact for data-related inquiries from Internal Audit.
  • Support stakeholder management by providing accurate, on-demand data analysis to Investor Relations and Group Sustainability teams to address external queries.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • 6 - 9 years of related experience from financial services, professional firms, insurance and/or asset management, in relation to business analysis, investment research, projects, and/or regulatory, market and industry trends and frameworks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in sustainable finance/risk (e.g., CFA Sustainable Investing Certificate, GARP Sustainability & Climate Risk, EFFAS Certified ESG Analyst® (CESGA) or investment (Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)) are an advantage.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in global ESG standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting frameworks, specifically SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), IFRS S1/S2 (ISSB), TCFD, and UN PRI.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management; ability to synthesise complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Comfort and/or familiarity with research and asset management platforms (i.e., Blackrock Aladdin, Factset RMS, ISS ProxyExchange).
  • Solid understanding of the investment lifecycle across asset classes, with specific familiarity with Direct Real Estate advantageous.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent organisational, presentation and communication skills, including the ability to converse with, advise and influence senior level stakeholders.
  • Exceptional advocacy and diplomacy skills, able to handle sensitive and / or confidential conversations and topics.
  • Creative and open to sharing and implementing new ideas.
  • Sound attention to detail.
  • Good positive work attitude and ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively as a larger team.
