Senior Manager, Demand Planning

Responsible for supporting business planning processes. This role will work closely with the Director of S&OP and cross-functional leaders to operationalize processes that align sales forecasts, operational capabilities, and category management strategies. The Senior Manager will play a critical role in driving execution discipline, improving forecast accuracy, and ensuring alignment across business functions. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic thinking and the ability to execute, influence, and deliver measurable results.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Process Execution & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the execution of standardized S&OP cycles, including meeting cadences, reporting deliverables, and action follow-ups. 

  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Category Management, and Supply Chain teams to ensure planning processes are fully embedded and executed consistently. 

  • Drive continuous improvement of demand planning and supply planning methodologies to improve forecast accuracy and service levels. 

  • Document and refine best practices, ensuring alignment across business units.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a key liaison between Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and Category Management to align assumptions, resolve gaps, and escalate issues when needed. 

  • Facilitate working sessions with cross-functional leaders to prepare for executive-level S&OP discussions. 

  • Build strong partnerships at both field and corporate levels to ensure effective adoption of S&OP practices.

  • Communicate results, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear, actionable manner.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Develop and manage reporting frameworks, dashboards, and performance metrics that support S&OP decision-making. 

  • Monitor KPIs such as forecast accuracy, fill rates, inventory turns, and customer service levels. 

  • Provide analysis and insights on demand trends, supply constraints, and financial impacts to drive informed decision-making. 

  • Identify improvement opportunities based on performance metrics and root cause analysis.

Technology & Tools

  • Partner with IT and functional leaders to optimize the use of planning tools and ensure data integrity. 

  • Support enhancements to S&OP systems, reporting platforms, and demand planning applications. 

  • Champion the adoption of BI and analytics tools to strengthen data-driven decision-making.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of analysts and planners responsible for demand and supply planning. Provide training and guidance on S&OP processes, tools, and data interpretation. 

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results within the S&OP team.

Nature and Scope

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.

  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.

  • Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally, 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in supply chain or operations, with at least 3–5 years focused in S&OP, demand planning, or integrated business planning.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver results in complex environments.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in BI tools, forecasting methodologies, and ERP systems.

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline.

  • Experience with S&OP technology platforms and demand planning tools.

  • Knowledge of statistical forecasting techniques and scenario planning.

  • Strong knowledge of demand planning, supply planning, and inventory management processes.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills; ability to present findings and influence at multiple organizational levels.

  • Advanced Excel and data management skills.
