Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Operations Quality Continuous Improvement Team.  Here at Raytheon, our Operations Quality Continuous Improvement Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement. You and your team will be key players working with leaders in Operations, Quality, Program Management, and Engineering to solve problems & drive improvements on our nation’s most advanced defense systems. 

As a leader of the Sensors Continuous Improvement organization, you will enable a team of quality engineers to be a trusted, high-impact team: embedded within programs and integrated into the factory, this team leverages CORE, APQP, and RCCA principles to elevate quality and deliver measurable results.

What you will do:

  • Lead a team of continuous improvement quality engineers, focused on driving resolution to opportunities in Sensors factories. Leadership tasks will include staffing, coaching, presenting to senior leadership, and performance reviews.
  • Your on-site presence will enable your immediate interaction with leaders in Operations, Engineering, Quality, and program representatives in your factories.  You will regularly engage with other factory leadership to ensure alignment of top priorities for your team.
  • Work side by side with factory Operations, Engineering, Quality, and program representatives to identify and support continuous product improvements
  • Use analytical tools such as APQP and CORE manufacturing methodologies. 
  • Communication of lessons learned across other programs & factories
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to be leveraged across similar process/assemblies as well as other programs.
  • Ensure effective root cause analysis and implementation of corrective & preventative actions. 
  • Perform verification and validation of improvements to understand effectiveness.
  • Lead/Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control Plans, SPC, etc.) using baseline metrics and future demand.
  • Calculate Return on Investment (ROI) for identified CI project opportunities and get alignment from Program and MFG teams.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or other technical field of study and a minimum of ten (10) years of Quality Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or related fields.
  • Project management experience including managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience leading cross functional teams and building/ maintaining relationships with other functions, customers, suppliers, and partners (both internal and external to Raytheon)
  • Manufacturing process experience in at least one of the following: (assembly, inspection, test)
  • Experience in identifying root cause and initiating/implementing effective short-term and long-term corrective actions.
  • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics that may be used to identify key opportunities and/or calculate ROI.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
  • Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and delivery
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques. 
  • Experience with different product technologies (electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, energetics, CCAs)
  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
  • Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis
  • Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis and Design of Experiments
  • Experience interpreting drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of MRP and Shop Floor Management Tools (PRISM (SAP), CMES) 
  • Existing US DoD Secret (or higher) clearance

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
