Job Description

Wood Mackenzie is looking for a Cloud FinOps Lead to manage this evolving function as the company continues to mature it’s FinOps practice. Wood Mackenzie has seen significant growth in the Cloud (AWS and Azure) since 2018, with that growth expected to continue as the company continues with a Cloud-first approach. In addition to being responsible for coordinating the delivery of the day-to-day tasks within the team, you will have the opportunity to work with many teams across the organisation to plan and execute on cost visibility and optimisation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the day-to-day responsibilities of the team are executed in line with existing processes and timelines.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of Cloud FinOps strategies and best practices that are aligned with the overall business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build on cost allocation methodologies and drive cost transparency.
  • Design and maintain financial reporting dashboards to monitor cloud spending and budget adherence.
  • Contribute to Cloud spend analysis and forecasting activities working collaboratively with the relevant business areas and Finance.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in Cloud cost management and FinOps

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, or Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Cloud cost management and FinOps 
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms, ideally both AWS and Azure 
  • Proficient in cloud cost optimisation tools and methodologies 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail 
  • Process mindset with a proven track record of improving process efficiency 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Experience with project management and leading cross-functional teams is a plus. 
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner certification essential 
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner certification a plus
  • Azure Fundamentals certification a plus
