Within HP’s growing cloud client business, the Senior Manager for Cloud Client Software & Hardware will lead the strategy, development, and execution of a unified cloud client portfolio that spans operating systems, client software, and purpose‑built hardware platforms. This role is accountable for delivering secure, scalable, and manageable cloud client solutions that support modern enterprise computing models, including virtual desktops, cloud PCs, browser‑based workflows, and vertical‑specific use cases.
The ideal candidate brings strong cross‑disciplinary leadership across software, hardware, and services, with the ability to align engineering execution, product strategy, and business outcomes. This role partners closely with R&D, platform engineering, security, go‑to‑market, and ecosystem partners to deliver differentiated cloud client experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Strategy Leadership
- Own the end‑to‑end cloud client portfolio, including client operating systems, cloud management software, firmware, and hardware platforms.
- Define and drive the cloud client strategy, balancing customer needs, security requirements, cost, performance, and long‑term roadmap alignment.
- Lead the transition from hardware‑centric to software‑defined and subscription‑enabled client solutions where applicable.
Software & Hardware Integration
- Ensure tight integration between client software, OS, firmware, and hardware to deliver optimized, reliable, and secure solutions.
- Partner with hardware engineering teams to influence platform design decisions that improve software experience, manageability, and lifecycle value.
- Guide trade‑off decisions across performance, cost, complexity, and customer value.
People & Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team across software product management, engineering, and hardware‑adjacent roles.
- Set clear goals, accountability, and development plans while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.
- Build future leadership capability within the team.
Cross‑Functional Execution
- Collaborate with R&D, platform engineering, security, supply chain, and quality teams to deliver on committed roadmaps.
- Partner with go‑to‑market, sales, and marketing teams to ensure solutions are clearly positioned, differentiated, and monetized.
- Act as a key point of contact for executive reviews, roadmap alignment, and escalations.
Ecosystem & Partner Engagement
- Drive strategic alignment with cloud, virtualization, and ISV partners to ensure compatibility, certification, and joint value creation.
- Evaluate and integrate partner technologies that enhance the cloud client value proposition.
Customer & Market Focus
- Represent the voice of the customer by incorporating feedback from enterprise, regulated, and vertical markets (e.g., healthcare, government, financial services).
- Monitor market trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies to inform roadmap and investment decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in cloud client, endpoint, software, hardware, or platform‑based product development.
- 3+ years of people management experience leading technical or product teams.
- Strong understanding of client operating systems, firmware, device management, and cloud‑based endpoint architectures.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross‑functional initiatives from strategy through execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with virtual desktops, cloud PCs, thin clients, or managed endpoint solutions.
- Background in secure or regulated environments (government, healthcare, financial services).
- Experience driving software monetization, subscriptions, or services attached to hardware platforms.
- Strong executive communication and influence skills.

The pay range for this role is $147,050 to $230,850 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
