Job Description:

As a Senior Linux & Windows Systems Engineer, you will support the Hosting Services and Identity and Access Management, Domain Name Services, Network at the OIT’s Division of Infrastructure Services (DIS) at Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Windows and Linux Server automation on Azure using Template Specs, Bicep and PowerShell.
  • Initial foundation for Linux server automation to reach parity with the Windows Server automation process. Linux server automation will use Ansible for configuration.
  • Act as a Senior Systems Engineer to lead troubleshooting with Linux and Windows machines as needed.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+years of Linux and Windows systems engineering experience as described below:
  • Strong scripting experience with PowerShell and Bash.
  • Strong in parameterization with various data objects and command piping.
  • Must know Azure infrastructure (RGs, VNETs, subnets, NSGs, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, Load Balancers, VNET Peering, VMs vNICs, vDisks, etc.)
  • Must know Terraform or Bicep and how run-Commands work.
  • Must know how to update and maintain Ansible Playbooks.
  • Must have strong networking foundations (DHCP, DNS, IPv4/IPv6, etc.).
  • Must be proficient with Windows Server and Linux (RHEL 9) VM system administration in both Azure and VMWare.
    • Package management in Linux and module management in PowerShell
    • Disk management in both Windows and Linux
    • Updating configuration and managing services.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and Linux compliance benchmarks.
  • Familiarity with GIT ops processes is required.

Location: Remote but Local within the DMV area with the ability to work onsite approximate once per month.

Clearance:

Ability to pass a Public Trust background check and meet the residency requirement for having resided in the US at least (3) three out of the last (5) five years.

The likely salary range for this position is $103,700 - $140,300. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
