As a Senior Legal Affairs Advisor, you contribute to protecting the organization’s legal interests by ensuring the legal compliance of various actions and playing a key role in advising the organization on its rights and obligations. You represent the organization in situations where its legal interests are at stake. You assume a leadership and influential role with various stakeholders in the sector on files and projects involving strategic and complex development initiatives that are cross-functional and innovative. In this regard, you contribute to the development and recommendation of strategic directions, business positioning, and product development. The nature of these files requires extensive and in-depth expertise in your field. There are numerous alignments to be made between different teams, and you will interact with a large number of stakeholders working in diverse areas of expertise. Strong interpersonal skills are therefore essential. You act as a subject matter expert and advisor in your area of expertise and serve as a resource person for decision-making bodies. You will also be called upon to respond to various questions from different teams within the sector. These questions require a pragmatic business sense and deep experience in your field of expertise. This means being able to assess and balance business imperatives with legal and compliance requirements in your responses. More specifically, you will be required to:
Act as the lead on projects and specific mandates related to Group Retirement Savings (GRS) with significant scope and impact for the company.
Advise and support colleagues and managers in positioning, planning, development, execution, and follow-up on various strategic projects and mandates under your responsibility.
Guide various teams in resolving issues and problematic situations.
Identify and analyze problems, raise major issues, establish diagnoses, and make recommendations to the relevant bodies.
Represent the business sector by interpreting laws and regulations for different teams in Compliance, Legal Affairs, Taxation, and Privacy Protection.
Oversee the development and evolution of policies, standards, models, and programs to support GRS strategic projects and mandates.
Represent the business sector on various industry committees.

What you bring to the table
Bachelor's degree in Law
A minimum of eight years of relevant experience
Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
Relevant experience in GRS
Member of the Barreau du Québec or the Chambre des notaires du Québec
Knowledge of French is required
Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
