About the Role:
Mechanical Engineering at Flinders University is based at the new state of the art Campus at Tonsley and the new City Campus. It has been identified as an area of growth, and the appointee will contribute to the research and teaching related activities in this area. Be part of shaping the future of mechanical engineering at Flinders University. We are seeking a passionate and accomplished academic to join the College of Science and Engineering as a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. In this position, you will inspire the next generation of mechanical engineer graduates through innovative teaching, world-class research, and strong industry collaboration.
As a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, you will also:
Lead and deliver innovative, student-centred teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including topic coordination and curriculum development.
Conduct high-quality, ethical, and impactful research in mechanical engineering, particularly in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics, leading to strong publication and funding outcomes.
Build and strengthen strategic industry and professional partnerships that enhance teaching, learning, and research collaboration.
This position is open to international candidates and relocation and visa support is available.
About You:
You are an experienced academic with a passion for mechanical engineering and a proven ability to lead, inspire, and innovate. You bring a strong track record in research, teaching, and collaboration, with a focus on creating meaningful industry impact.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
A distinguished record of teaching excellence in higher education, including leadership in curriculum design, topic coordination, and use of digital and e-learning technologies.
A strong and sustained research record, supported by quality publications, competitive grant success, and postgraduate supervision.
Proven ability to lead academic teams, mentor early career researchers, and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
