Job Description:

The Senior Learning Services Coordinator for Outreach and Engagement will serve as the lead on essential campus outreach efforts on behalf of the CAS to support LSU student academic achievement, retention, and graduation. The position will report to the Assistant Director of Outreach and Engagement. Primary responsibilities will include learning strategy sessions, presentations, and creation, coordination, and implementation of CAS outreach.

55% Learning Strategy Sessions, Outreach, Presentations, and Case Management

  • Provide individualized academic and learning support through tailored learning strategy sessions, improving student study skills, engagement, and academic performance
  • Develop and create instructional content, resources, and materials that contribute to measurable gains in student learning outcomes and participation
  • Monitor and track the academic progress and overall academic health of an assigned caseload, ensuring participation in interventions and supporting timely course completion and degree progress
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to promote the Center for Academic Success and its programs, increasing student utilization of academic support services and program participation
  • Provide guidance, resources, and academic assistance to faculty, staff, and the general public, enhancing campus-wide implementation of effective learning strategies
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Outreach and Engagement with tracking student attendance at outreach events, supporting accurate reporting and evaluation of program impact

20% Program Development, Implementation and Coordination

  • Assist in coordinating and supporting internal and external academic intervention initiatives, resulting in improved student engagement, retention, and overall academic success
  • Support ongoing retention services and programs while coordinating select initiatives as directed, contributing to measurable increases in student persistence and program participation
  • Assist in designing, developing, and implementing programs throughout the year to enhance student learning outcomes, academic performance, and achievement
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to raise awareness of the Center for Academic Success and its programs, leading to higher utilization of academic support services
  • Provide guidance, resources, and academic assistance to faculty, staff, and the general public, supporting effective teaching practices and positive student outcomes
  • Support the coordination and execution of the LSU Promise Scholars Program, increasing student engagement, retention, and progression toward degree completion

20% Administration and Supervision

  • Assist the Assistant Director of Outreach and Engagement by observing Learning Specialists and providing feedback, resulting in improved instructional quality and professional growth
  • Support the hiring and onboarding of new Learning Specialists by scheduling observations and monitoring progress, ensuring readiness to deliver effective learning strategy sessions
  • Recruit, train, and supervise Graduate Assistants (GAs), conducting bi-weekly check-ins and monthly all-staff meetings to enhance GA performance and program effectiveness
  • Monitor time-tracking systems and software, such as TracCloud and timesheets, to ensure GAs adhere to approved schedules and consistently meet required weekly hours, improving operational efficiency
  • Track and evaluate Graduate Assistants’ use of Navigate for Learning Strategy Sessions, ensuring timely scheduling, accurate work summaries, and high-quality student support
  • Provide administrative support and assist with large-scale office projects to enhance overall Center operations and the delivery of academic support services

5% Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and one year experience in a college learning center setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with three years of working in a college learning center
  • Master's degree with 1 year of working in a college learning center

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
