The Position

At Roche Information Solutions, within Data, Analytics, and Research, you’ll be part of an international, interdisciplinary community that is shaping the future of digital healthcare.
The Integrated Clinical Product Domain Chapter leverages data science, engineering, and domain expertise to improve clinical decision-making, optimize clinical workflows, and drive the development of high-quality digital medical products. Our work includes the development of clinical algorithms and AI products to enhance clinical workflows, as well as the provision of high-quality curated data and knowledge bases to support both existing and developing digital products.

The Clinical Data Management & Insights Sub-Chapter is primarily focused on supporting RIS product development that relies on high-quality clinical and biomedical data.

As a Senior Information Scientist / Clinical Data Curator (f/m/d), you will help shape the future of clinical decision support. You will apply your scientific expertise to analyze, structure, and make complex, multimodal data from oncology and other disease areas usable for digital products.

At the core of your work is the development and maintenance of a curated knowledge base that serves as the foundation for innovative clinical decision support tools – for example, within the Navify portfolio. You will work independently on international projects in a highly dynamic environment at the intersection of science, technology, and clinical practice.

Your key responsibilities

  • Curate, analyze, and assess clinically relevant biomarker data from scientific literature, public databases, and regulatory sources.
  • Classify genomic variants based on clinical relevance (e.g., according to AMP guidelines) and maintain their classification in a structured knowledge base.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure consistency, accuracy, and up-to-date entries in the database.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, maintain current information on approved drugs, and support the creation of product reports.
  • Provide scientific oversight for external curation teams, respond to customer feedback, and conduct training sessions for users as needed.
  • Contribute your scientific expertise to interdisciplinary project teams and support the development of digital solutions with high medical value.

Your Profile

  • Degree in life sciences, biology, bioinformatics, or data science, preferably with a PhD.
  • 3-5 years (with PhD) or 5-7 years (with Master’s) of relevant experience in scientific data curation, ideally in oncology and digital product development.
  • Strong knowledge of genomics, annotation of genomic variants, and their relevance for diagnostics, prognosis, therapy, and clinical studies.
  • Experience working with classification systems, ontologies, and staging guidelines for cancer.
  • Strong analytical skills, a high level of autonomy, and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration with product managers, software developers, and clinicians.

This position is based in Penzberg (Germany).
