Job Purpose
As a Senior HR Advisor, you’ll be responsible for delivery of a people centric HR Advisory service aligned to our strategy, employee value proposition, policies, and procedures to drive a positive employee experience.
You will build and sustain credible effective working relationships internally and externally, acting as a trusted advisor to the business, steering and influencing stakeholders on all end-to-end people matters.
Successful delivery of the strategy takes place across the wider HR Team, so you’ll need to work collaboratively with the wider HR team to support HR projects and initiatives.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Trusted Coach & Confidant In this aspect of the role, you will:
• Deliver a customer-focused high quality and effective HR Advisory service from start to finish (to a successful resolution), ensuring behaviors are in line with the employee value proposition, and risks to the business are minimised.
• Influence and coach managers on complex/sensitive employee relations, appeals, whistleblowing, and employment tribunal cases from start to finish - identifying the root cause and solving for the immediate, but also for the future. Seeking guidance from the wider HR Team as required to ensure the business operates in a safe, fair, and equitable manner.
• Coach HR Advisors on complex and sensitive employee relations cases or take the lead on these cases should they escalate beyond their role scope.
• Proactively build and maintain strong professional and effective working relationships to ensure the business has the appropriate level of support to deliver a seamless and first-class employee experience that drives performance.
• Contribute to organisational design activities such as job evaluation and salary benchmarking, restructures, redundancies, acquisitions, TUPE initiatives.
• Contribute to the continued development and implementation of inclusive and scalable HR policies and procedures across Cabot, communicating these clearly and making them accessible to stakeholders at all levels.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to design and deliver effective and fit-for-purpose people management training through workshops and coaching sessions.
• Act as an experienced trusted advisor to managers, with strong coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills, and being an ambassador for the HR team, demonstrating our values at all times.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation, market conditions and HR best practice and trends, i.e., you might propose new HR technology or solutions to improve day-to-day operations, and share insights with stakeholders, where appropriate.
• Demonstrate commitment to Continuous Professional Development by regularly seeking out opportunities to broaden your HR experience, develop your skills and update your knowledge.
Person Specification:
Formal Education & Certification You’ll be qualified at CIPD Level 5 (or be working towards it) or have equivalent working experience.
Knowledge & Experience:
You will require:
• Extensive HR generalist experience in providing advice and solutions independently through a commercial lens.
• Fantastic stakeholder management skills, and the ability to challenge, influence and direct the business confidently, as well as being able to adapt to different styles and surroundings demonstrating variety and agility of thought.
• Experience of developing and supporting organisational change programmes. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft-based applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• The curiosity to appropriately question, influence and advise to ensure the business assesses and understands the impacts of decisions on people.
• The ability to work in a complex work environment, thinking on your feet with a pragmatic approach.
• High self-direction and flexibility, especially with respect to taking initiative, prioritising multiple tasks, and using good judgment to resolve problems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft-based applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
