Mercer’s Health & Benefits Consulting team is seeking an Employee Health & Benefits Consultant (Senior Associate) for our Toronto office.

The Employee Benefits Consultant will:

  • Participate in delivering impactful solutions for organizations of any size and varied industries and have a direct impact on their employees
  • Work in a collaborative environment on a wide variety of client teams with any number of our 80+ Health colleagues in Toronto
  • Support clients in the financial and strategic management of their employee benefit programs through analysis and communication
  • Manage the scope, quality, timeliness, and budget of multiple client deliverables
  • Delegate to and review project work of more junior colleagues which includes technical review of financial, contract, and administrative analysis
  • Provide direction to analysts and other team members in the preparation and delivery of clear and concise client presentations

We will count on you to:

  • Lead and support on client engagements, including managing overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking, and other studies
  • Perform detailed technical reviews of analysis and reporting prepared by more junior colleagues, relying on group insurance underwriting principles with a consulting lens
  • Develop benefits design and renewal strategies and drive the development of tools and solutions to address complex client issues
  • Use appropriate Mercer tools in the development and execution of client strategy
  • Incorporate compliance and professional standards into all work processes, including transparency, peer review and maintaining required licensure
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to more junior team members on both technical and soft skills.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Life Licensed agent in Ontario or ability to obtain one in 6 months
  • 5+ years' experience in identifying, designing, pricing, recommending, and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex health care benefits challenges
  • Strong technical underwriting skills and knowledge of the Canadian insurance market
  • Proven management skills in leading large, complex projects
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple and complex tasks in a demanding work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills
