Position Summary

Oxford is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst with strong financial accounting and analytical skills to join our growing Global Entity Reporting team based in Toronto. In this role, you will be responsible for the full accounting cycle for a set of corporate legal and consolidated entities totaling up to $21B in assets. Responsibilities include the month-end and quarter-end close process (including the recording and analysis of property and debt fair value mark to market), assistance with corporate level budgeting/forecasting, preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, liaising with various stakeholders and external auditors, overseeing cash management of various structures and completing technical accounting analysis. The Senior Financial Analyst will also support debenture issuances and prospectus reviews, including the preparation and analysis of financial/non-financial information.


As a member of Global Entity Reporting team, you will be responsible for:

Financial Reporting:

• Preparation of complex consolidated annual and quarterly financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) for lender compliance purposes;

• Coordination and management of interim and year-end external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules;

• Support of debenture issuances, including financial and non-financial analysis;
• Actively participate and contribute to the resolution of complex technical accounting issues including appropriate treatment for acquisitions/dispositions, and implementation of new accounting standards;

• Full cycle accounting for portfolio of legal entities including monthly journal entries, cash and equity reconciliations, investment property/debt continuities, intercompany account settlements and validation of foreign currency translations;

• Preparation of non-consolidated statutory financial statements and working papers for various legal entities;

• Preparation of step memos, solvency tests and other documentation necessary to support income distributions, return of capital and equity contributions for various legal entities; and

• Ad-hoc analyses as required by management and internal and external stakeholders.

Financial Planning & Analysis:
• Review and analysis of annual operating plans and quarterly reforecasts of our various consolidated structures;

• Identify, analyze, and explain variances in financial statements, including revenue, expenses, and capital assets;
• Prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient funding to meet operational and development requirements; and
• Assist with management reporting for the Oxford enterprise, as it relates to assigned portfolio of entities and assets.

Process Innovation and Controls:
• Participation in projects with a focus on continuous improvement and making recommendations for efficiencies in day to day responsibilities;

• Ensure compliance with Oxford’s processes and controls; and
• Liaise with other departments, including Capital Markets, Treasury, Tax, and Legal.

To succeed in this role:
• Have completed a University degree and obtained a Professional Accounting Designation;

• Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related capacity (financial reporting/analysis or audit experience from mid-size or Big Four firm) preferably with real estate exposure and have a proven record of strong performance;

• Have experience working with international organizations in a multi-currency environment;

• Have dealt with complex organizational structures and consolidations;

• Are analytical and have the ability to produce analysis with appropriate style and language to support

conclusions;

• High attention to detail and strong sense of ownership;

• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills;

• Strong process management/improvement skills with a mindset for continuous improvement;

• Embrace collaborative sharing of knowledge within a team environment;

• Are driven to achieving results and continuously striving to deliver the highest performance through critical thinking;

• Excel in working in a fast pace, dynamic environment and have demonstrated time management and organizational skills, and an ability to prioritize responsibilities;

• Are proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook; additionally, exposure to Workiva is considered an asset; and

• Have exposure to ERP & Consolidation systems, preferably JD Edwards, Yardi and Hyperion Financial Management.

The expected salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year.
