We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. This role requires strong general insurance experience, particularly in workers’ compensation, along with solid technical accounting skills.
As part of the Finance team, you will work closely with stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and quality of accounting and reporting delivered by the offshore team. You will act as a point of escalation, ensuring timely delivery while driving continuous improvement in finance systems, processes, and compliance with technical accounting standards. Additionally, the role involves coaching and developing a financial accountant to support career progression within the team.
This will be a full time, permanent position based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements
Lead the development and implementation of technical policies and control frameworks
Identify key transactions requiring technical review and establish best-practice procedures
Build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally
Provide leadership, coaching, and development for finance team members
Drive system and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy
ABOUT YOU
CA/CPA qualified with 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience mandatory
Workers’ compensation experience is essential, along with broader general insurance experience.
General insurance experience is essential, with a strong preference for workers’ compensation
Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of tax legislation
Familiarity with APRA standards and reporting
