Senior Finance Analyst

Santo Domingo Local Office Full time

The Senior Finance Analyst is responsible for proactively supporting operational and strategic decision making, focusing on improving business decisions. He/she must translate Svitzer’s business needs into financial needs, lead financial planning processes across operational units and support management with driving profitability, market growth initiatives and business cases. Acts as a trusted financial advisor, challenges and supports the business and ensures progress and project execution.

Specific Area of Responsibility

Your main tasks will be:

  • Budgeting process and follow up (income/costs actuals, budget, forecasts)

  • Cost, OPEX, CAPEX, cash flow forecasting and planning

  • Deep dive into selected cost categories to identify, propose and support improvements, driving cost saving initiatives

  • Profitability (customer, product, business unit, etc.) analytics, profit/cost driver analytics, developing KPI’s and reporting

  • Supporting business units with business case analysis/preparation, investment opportunities, projects, planning, execution

  • Support the Finance Manager in mapping financial processes, identifying areas of improvement and helping implement as agreed

  • Support analysis and development of business case evaluations.

  • Management/Board support: forecasting, benchmarking, projecting, reporting

Requirements/Preferred Education 

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or related area; preferred master on relevant degree.

Training and competencies

  • More than 5 years of experience in similar positions

  • Solid understanding of Finance fundamentals – capital allocations, assets, taxes, profitability, cash flow, etc.

  • Highly skilled in MS Office application

  • Understanding of the link between B/S and P/L, ability to develop KPI driver trees on financial and non-financial aspects to monitor and drive performance and link to strategic objectives

  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.

  • Leadership experience

  • Project management experience

  • Good verbal and written communication skills across multiple levels in the organization and with Self-motivated and detail-oriented personality.

  • Ability to work in a global business environment and in a matrix organization.

  • Fluent written and spoken Spanish & English.

  • Safety environment awareness.
