We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities & Maintenance Manager to oversee the infrastructure and building systems of our electronics manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Director, Manufacturing Engineering, this role ensures the smooth, safe, and compliant operation of our physical plant—supporting production uptime and driving high performance through efficient maintenance and operational support. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, facilities experience in manufacturing, and a metrics-driven approach to continuous improvement.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and manage all facility operations including HVAC, electrical, compressed air, compressed air systems, and building infrastructure.

  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unplanned downtime.

  • Ensure facilities comply with ISO 9001, and other relevant regulatory standards for electronics manufacturing.

  • Collaborate with production, programs, Engineering , EHS, and quality teams to ensure facility systems align with manufacturing needs and safety goals.

  • Manage vendors and contractors for routine services, maintenance, and capital improvement projects.

  • Lead capital projects related to facility upgrades, equipment installations, and layout modifications.

  • Oversee and optimize facility-related budgets, including operational expenses and capital expenditUres (CapEx).

  • Maintain accurate facility documentation including layouts, service logs, permits, inspections, and audit reports.

  • Provide leadership for emergency planning, facility response procedures, and business continuity.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of facilities management experience in an electronics or high-tech manufacturing environment.

  • Understanding of the National Building Code of Canada and the Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations

  • Strong knowledge of facility systems relevant to electronics production, including compressed air systems, HVAC, and electrical infrastructure.

  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and KPI-driven facility management.

  • Familiarity with  ISO 9001, and environmental compliance standards.

  • Proficient in CMMS platforms, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Certifications such as CFM, FMP, Lean Six Sigma, are preferred.

 

 

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • On-site role at an electronics manufacturing facility.

  • Requires occasional after-hours or weekend availability for critical maintenance or emergencies.

  • May require physical activity including walking long distances, climbing ladders, and lifting moderate loads.

 

Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent experience) and 7+ years of related experience with 1+ years of leadership experience OSHA 10 certified (or equivalent)
