How you'll spend your time...
The main requirements of the role relate primarily to Statutory, Regulatory and Board Reporting for one Luxembourg management company and one Netherlands based management company. The Luxembourg company has individual branches across Europe. In addition, there are other Luxembourg, Swiss and Germany entities covered by this role.
Be responsible for leading preparation and comprehensive review of annual Statutory Accounts, Regulatory reporting submissions and Statistical reporting submissions for European based entities.
Liaise directly with the corporate Auditors and to challenge and resolve Auditor queries, working closely with Management, global Controllership and the wider business as necessary.
Support Management and the Treasury Capital Management team in ensuring the correct and appropriate information is shared to allow the completion of capital management documentation.
Prepare and where appropriate, support Management review of, quarterly Financial Board & Executive Committee papers for the various Boards in the region. Working closely with the Company Secretarial team to ensure packs are shared timely and all Controllership topics are appropriately covered.
Review of Entity and Branch revenues, expenses and profitability trend to highlight any areas for escalation.
Support with the preparation of technical accounting papers linked to Statutory & Regulatory reporting as and when required, through gaining a detailed understanding of the business, research of the relevant accounting or regulatory rules and discussion of implications with various stakeholders - legal, tax etc
Provide advice and assistance to other areas of the Controllership team and the wider Ameriprise business on technical matters including interpretation and practical requirements of relevant accounting standards or regulatory rules.
Feed in appropriately to Projects and similar initiatives to ensure that both the projects aims and Controllership's interests are appropriately met.
Identification of process enhancements (including use of new tools or software) or risk mitigation proposals for presentation to Management for approval, prior to delivering implementation.
To act as a leader within the department and to develop junior team members.
Maintain appropriate levels of communication with Controllership Management to raise any issues or challenges with meeting deadlines.
Support Management at entities monthly Executive Committee / quarterly Board meetings to present:
-Quarterly financial updates.
-Annual Financial Statements for approval.
-Other papers as necessary.
To be successful in this role you will have...
The successful candidate will be professionally qualified with a minimum of three years relevant PQE.
A sound understanding of LuxGAAP and or Dutch GAAP.
An ability to investigate and understand other GAAP treatments.
Sound communication skills and an ability to work closely with colleagues in other countries/regions.
Good Excel/Word reporting skills.
