Details of the role and how it fits into the team

Within the Investment Banking division of Deutsche Bank, we are seeking an experienced Equity Trader to join our Germany Cash Equities Trading team, with a primary focus on large- and mid-cap German and / or Pan‑European equities. The role requires deep, current market knowledge, encompassing not only trading mechanics but also a strong understanding of the fundamental drivers and competitive dynamics of the listed companies we cover. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong execution capabilities and the ability to operate effectively in fast‑moving market conditions, consistently delivering high‑quality outcomes for institutional clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing client orders across German and/or Pan-European cash equities, making risk prices to clients, managing risk, driving market share in their sectors and acting as a trusted execution partner to sales, sales trading, and portfolio managers. You will be expected to demonstrate strong real‑time market judgement, liquidity assessment, and venue selection, while operating within defined risk and regulatory frameworks.

Your key responsibilities

  • You will execute institutional client orders in German and/or Pan-European large- and mid-cap equities, delivering consistent best execution

  • You will apply current, real‑time market knowledge to manage liquidity, volatility, auctions, and event‑driven trading conditions

  • You will demonstrate deep understanding of German and/or Pan-European market structure (e.g. Xetra, MTFs, auctions) and optimal venue selection

  • You will partner closely with Sales, Sales Trading, and Research to provide market colour, execution insight, and informed trading solutions

  • You will exercise strong execution judgement within defined risk, regulatory, and control frameworks

  • You will contribute to continuous improvement of execution strategies, trading analytics, and desk best practice

Your skills and experiences

  • Proven experience as an Equity Trader with hands‑on responsibility for sector trading in German and / or Pan Euro cash equities

  • Strong, current understanding of large‑ and mid‑cap market dynamics, liquidity patterns, and investor behavior

  • Deep knowledge of European equity market structure, execution venues, and order types

  • Sound execution judgement under pressure, including timing, sizing, and venue selection in fast‑moving markets

  • Experience partnering closely with institutional clients, sales, and portfolio managers

  • High standards of discipline, risk awareness, attention to detail, and familiarity with electronic trading platforms (e.g. Fidessa or equivalent)

  • Fluent in English and German
