About the Role

The Senior Engineering Manager - HR Systems is responsible for leading and scaling the Product Ownership & engineering, People Security and Test teams that delivers HR technology solutions across Flutter Entertainment's global operations. This role supervises multiple Senior Managers and their teams who build, maintain, and optimize Workday and wider HR technology platforms (owning over 20 and supporting many more platforms) serving 25,000+ employees across 50 countries. The position requires a strategic technical leader who can balance hands-on product and engineering excellence with people management, partner collaboration, and organizational development.


What you’ll do :

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and develop a team of Senior Managers and Engineers (25+ headcount) building high-performing teams through effective hiring, mentoring, performance, and career development

  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement through mentor and support

  • Drive talent retention, development, succession planning, and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across the HR Product engineering organization

Technical Strategy & Architecture

  • Support the development of HR Tech Strategy and own its execution across Workday and wider HR technologies, optimising quality, efficiency, performance, and scalability of global platforms

  • Ensure technical solutions align with business needs, security requirements, and compliance standards while championing engineering guidelines

  • Stay current with new technologies including AI/ML and automation, assessing their applicability to the HR domain

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the Head of Business Systems, HR & Tech leadership, Product teams, and business stakeholders to align tech delivery with strategic priorities, and deliver solutions that address business

  • Collaborate with other engineering leaders and product managers to ensure system alignment while acting as a technical advisor for strategic HR transformation initiatives and digital HR programs

  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership , representing the HR Tech team in cross-functional forums and strategic planning sessions

Delivery & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure timely delivery of quality solutions while driving Agile/Scrum methodologies, continuous delivery practices, and comprehensive testing strategies

  • Be responsible for system reliability, performance monitoring, incident management, and support

  • Balance technical debt management with feature delivery, maintenance, and new technology implementations

  • Create and drive adoption of standard operating procedures, policies and runbooks

Product & Business Impact

  • Ensure engineering solutions deliver measurable business value while assessing impact of new releases and changes with Portfolio and Product teams

  • Support data-driven decision making and advocate for single global data models and standardized processes across Flutter divisions

  • Drive initiatives that improve employee experience and operational efficiency

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA), security policies, and proper change management controls

  • Lead technical risks, mitigation strategies, and ensure disaster recovery and system resilience capabilities

  • Maintain audit readiness and ensure engineering practices meet regulatory and internal compliance requirements

What you’ll need:

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of HR technology ecosystems, particularly Workday and enterprise HR platforms

  • Proven ability to build and oversee complex, scalable system architectures with strong software engineering background

Leadership & Management

  • Proven track record building and scaling multi location high-performing engineering teams with ability to translate business strategy into technical roadmaps

  • Strong partner management and change leadership skills with ability to influence across all organizational levels

  • Expert problem-solving and analytical abilities with data-driven decision-making approach

 Communication & Collaboration

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences

  • Ability to work effectively across geographies, cultures, and time zones

  • Proven success in cross-functional collaboration and building consensus
