What You Will Do

  • Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, providing technical direction, mentorship, and career development

  • Drive the architecture, design, and delivery of safety-critical avionics software aligned to civil certification standards (DO-178)

  • Own execution across scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring successful delivery of complex engineering programs

  • Champion engineering excellence by implementing best practices across development, verification, and certification processes

  • Partner cross-functionally with program leadership, systems, and customers to align technical solutions with business and mission objectives

  • Guide and support bid and proposal efforts, shaping technical strategy and estimating scope for new business opportunities

  • Build and maintain a strong team through strategic hiring, workforce planning, and talent development

  • Identify risks early and drive proactive solutions to ensure program success and continuous improvement

  • Willing and Able to travel as required (domestic and international <10%). 

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Experience in functional and/or project leadership role for Software or FPGA developments (in certification environments), with cost and schedule responsibility and strong background in Earned Value Management. 

  • Previous experience leading and/or mentoring engineering teams, including staffing, performance management, and mentoring

  • Experience with DO-178 development and verification processes

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with avionics software (Flight Management Systems, Aircraft Applications, Drivers, Operating Systems, Graphics and Middleware)

  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies

  • Experience with lab integration, system-level testing, and engineering tools

  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to manage risk and complexity

  • Effective communicator across technical and non-technical audiences

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
