Job Description:
Senior Engineering Manager | Game Production – Infrastructure
Your role within our Kingdom
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Infrastructure / Developer’s Platform group within Game Production. This organization provides the platforms and services that hundreds of King developers rely on every day to build, test, ship, and operate games at scale for hundreds of millions of players around the world.
You will be combining strong people leadership with the ability to drive multi-team outcomes across a complex stakeholder landscape. The scope includes our Build & CI platform and critical developer services such as code repositories (GitHub Enterprise), artifact repositories (Artifactory), asset repository workflows (Perforce), and other developer productivity services.
Your mission is to make engineering work faster, safer, and more reliable: reducing cycle time and failures, increasing developer self-service, and driving standardization that scales across studios. You should be proactive and self driven.
Skills to create thrills
People leadership and team health
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing organization; grow managers and senior engineers into strong leaders.
- Build a strong hiring and onboarding pipeline; retain talent through clear career paths and meaningful growth opportunities.
- Create a culture of ownership, psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Platform strategy and delivery
- Set a clear vision and roadmap for Infrastructure / Developer Platforms aligned with game production needs and company priorities.
- Work with the team on creating a strategy to consolidate old legacy systems and unify our platforms across game studios.
- Translate strategy into executable plans: milestones, resourcing, delivery cadence, and measurable success criteria.
- Drive convergence through platform standards and “golden paths,” reducing fragmentation and long-term maintenance cost.
Ownership of core developer services
- Own the reliability, security, and scalability of core developer systems.
- Improve service operations: availability, performance, access controls, compliance, cost efficiency, and user self-service.
- Partner with Security/IT/IAM and other platform teams to ensure strong governance with low friction for developers.
Modernization and operational excellence
- Lead modernization initiatives across CI/build tooling and developer services, including migrations and deprecation of legacy solutions.
- Strengthen operational practices: observability, incident management, post-incident learning, and preventative reliability work.
- Reduce developer toil by eliminating recurring pain points and investing in automation and self-service capabilities.
Outcomes, metrics, and stakeholder leadership
- Be proactive and self-driven: continuously identify opportunities, propose improvements, and run lightweight experiments to validate impact and drive change.
- Define and track KPIs that reflect real developer impact (e.g., cycle time, failure rate, flakiness, MTTR, satisfaction, service availability).
- Communicate clearly with leadership and stakeholders; align priorities, manage trade-offs, and deliver predictable outcomes.
- Build strong partnerships with game teams, ensuring the platform roadmap reflects real needs and adoption is successful.
