ABOUT THIS JOB

Position Specific Summary 

The Senior Engineering Associate position at the City of Tucson’s Department of Transportation & Mobility, installs, Performs technical and administrative tasks in support of capital improvement projects. Responsible for permit processing, plan reviews, inspection scheduling, and ensuring compliance with standards.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Process right-of-way and construction permits, including data entry and fee collection.

  • Review technical plans and applications for compliance with city standards.

  • Schedule and track inspections for permitted work.

  • Update GIS maps and databases to maintain accurate project records.

  • Assist engineers and managers with research, reporting, and project tracking.

  • Respond to inquiries from contractors, utilities, and the public regarding permits and projects.

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve conflicts or deficiencies.

  • Perform other technical and administrative duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Two (2) years of relevant experience
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

License/Certifications: A Valid and unrestricted Driver License with two (2) years of licensend driving is required


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
Two (2) years of engineering permitting or technical support experience
