Help shape the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective future of natural gas transmission. In this role of Senior Engineer Gas Hydraulics System Planning, you’ll lead complex hydraulic modelling, capacity assessments, and fit‑for‑purpose design recommendations that guide major pipeline and compression/facility projects from early scoping through execution—directly supporting capacity management and hydraulic design for Enbridge’s BC Pipeline (Westcoast) Gas Transmission system.

If you thrive on solving ambiguous, high‑impact technical challenges and influencing decisions that can span tens of millions to billions in capital outcomes, this could be your next opportunity—apply now!

What You Will Do:

  • Lead gas hydraulic design for major pipeline and facility projects from concept to execution - shaping scope, identifying risks, and solving complex capacity and operability challenges.

  • Own system capacity and expansion planning by maintaining and calibrating hydraulic models, identifying system bottlenecks, and translating customer conditions into fit for purpose designs.

  • Influence high visibility project decisions early by delivering rapid, high‑quality hydraulic analyses that spans multiple disciplines (steady state, transient) while balancing safety, reliability, capital efficiency, and commercial objectives.

  • Act as a trusted technical authority in gas hydraulics - advising Project Development and Project Engineering on design strategy and engaging Technical Operations and Gas Control on operational constraints.

  • Advance hydraulic engineering practice across the organization by setting best practices, improving modeling methodologies, participating in standards and governance, and building capability in tools such as Gregg Engineering NextGen.

  • Collaborate, communicate, and lead—mentoring junior engineers, overseeing consultants, participating in design reviews and HAZOPs, and clearly conveying complex technical concepts to diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

  • Registered member with APEGA as a P. Eng. in the Province of Alberta.

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in engineering, operations, or project management directly related to pipeline and facility design.

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in hydraulic modelling directly related to pipeline and facility design is an asset.

  • Demonstrated aptitude and communication skills to work independently on complex, partially defined problems and collaborate effectively across disciplines.

  • Ability to tackle complex issues based on depth and breadth of technical, operating and business knowledge, managing multiple activities and prioritizing tasks accordingly.

  • Familiarity with one or more Hydraulic Modelling tools including Gregg Engineering NextGen, WinFlow/WinTran, Aspen Hysys, ProMax, PipeSim, Synergy Gas, or SPS is preferred.

  • Detailed knowledge of natural gas transmission and/or Westcoast Pipeline System including pipelines, compressors, facilities, and meters is an asset.
