Join our Embedded Controls team as a Senior Engineer, leading the design and development of electronic control units and printed wiring board assemblies that power critical electric systems for military and commercial aircraft. In this role, you will apply advanced electrical and electronic engineering principles to develop reliable aerospace hardware that meets specifications, customer requirements, and established engineering standards. 

You will perform electronic circuit design, schematic development, and circuit analysis, lead requirements management, and guide design reviews and engineering analyses. You will also oversee testing, collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, support manufacturing, and resolve complex technical challenges to ensure products perform reliably throughout their lifecycle.

What You Will Do 

  • Lead the design and development of electronic control units (ECUs) and printed wiring board assemblies (PWBA) for advanced aircraft electric power systems. 

  • Create and manage unit and module requirements, supporting validation and change management throughout the development lifecycle. 

  • Drive schematic design and electronic circuit development, providing technical guidance and reviewing designs for accuracy and reliability. 

  • Conduct design reviews and engineering analyses, including stress, stability, lightning, and performance evaluations. 

  • Develop test procedures and support development and qualification testing. 

  • Utilize laboratory equipment to validate system performance and troubleshoot complex issues. 

  • Document design studies, trade studies, and failure analyses, providing technical leadership for continuous improvement. 

  • Support manufacturing and fielded products, resolving production and field issues efficiently. 

  • Collaborate across engineering teams to perform root cause analysis, mentor junior engineers, and manage component obsolescence. 

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience 

  • Prior experience in electronic circuit design, schematics, and circuit analysis 

Qualifications We Prefer  

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering  

  • Experience designing electronic control units or PWBA for aerospace or high-reliability systems. 

  • Knowledge of circuit design and hardware development processes. 

  • Experience with schematic design tools (Concept HDL, Mentor Graphics/Siemens EDA). 

  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as TeamCenter or Polarion. 

  • Knowledge of aerospace testing standards such as RTCA DO-160. 

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration skills. 

  • Experience with MS Office suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
