Who We Are
At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. So why work at Kyndryl? We are always moving forward – always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities.
The Role
Within Kyndryl’s Distributed Database Administration team, you will play a critical role in the design, operation, and continuous improvement of our PostgreSQL environments. You will manage the full lifecycle of enterprise-grade PostgreSQL and MySQL databases — from installation and configuration to optimization, security, and automation — ensuring the stability and performance of systems that support major customer operations.
You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining database architectures, defining standards, and producing the technical documentation required to support long-term scalability. Your work will include configuring high-availability solutions, managing user access, enforcing security controls, and applying patches and upgrades with minimal service disruption.
A key part of your role will be disaster recovery and business continuity. You will design and execute robust backup and recovery strategies, validate recovery procedures, and ensure data protection across all environments. Your analytical skills will be essential as you troubleshoot complex incidents, support application teams, and optimize workloads for performance and efficiency.
You will contribute to improving operational efficiency by developing and enhancing monitoring, automation, and orchestration capabilities. Capacity planning, growth forecasting, and proactive performance management will help ensure that our database platforms evolve in line with business needs.
As a strategic partner, you will collaborate closely with engineering, application, and infrastructure teams to plan database initiatives — including migrations, version upgrades, and architectural improvements — ensuring alignment with customer and organizational objectives. Your recommendations and technical leadership will directly influence the reliability, scalability, and security of the services we deliver.
Every role at Kyndryl provides a clear pathway for career advancement — from Senior Administrator to Architect. You’ll have access to industry-leading training programs, hands-on labs, and certification opportunities across multiple platforms and cloud providers. Working with customers in a wide range of sectors, you will have the freedom to broaden your expertise or specialize deeply in the areas that matter most to you.
