Senior Director, Strategy and Performance Lead, ABRYSVO

ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer’s ABRYSVO is a vaccine currently indicated in the United States for active immunization for the prevention of Lower Respiratory Tract Disease (LRTD) in individuals 18 through 59 years of age who are at increased risk for LRTD caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), individuals 60 and older and for active immunization of pregnant individuals at 32 through 36 weeks gestational age for the prevention of LRTD and severe LRTD caused by RSV in infants from birth through 6 months of age.

ABRYSVO is currently approved for use in the U.S. in adults 50-74 with certain underlying medical conditions (UMCs), adults 75 and older, and for maternal vaccination between 32 and 36 weeks of pregnancy.

The Senior Director, Strategy and Performance Lead for ABRYSVO is accountable for formulating and implementing the U.S. strategic plan for ABRYSVO and managing brand performance dynamics across the brand, supply chain and major customer groups. This is a critical leadership position, responsible for establishing and owning implementation of a connected strategy across RSV, aligned with U.S. Vaccines and Pfizer Primary Care goals and performance objectives. As owner of the RSV strategic plan, the lead will coordinate across channel leads and cross functional partners to drive implementation through focused strategic initiatives and manage the operational agenda and performance reporting for the U.S. team on an ongoing basis. The role is additionally accountable for performance alignment and consistent reporting across adult and maternal RSV indications, coordinating investor and earnings reporting and playing a prominent role in coordinating ABRYSVO team and executive leadership engagements.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead strategic planning and execution for RSV
    • Own, develop and iterate the three-year strategic brand plan for ABRYSVO, in alignment with global positioning, channel and indication priorities, U.S. Vaccines portfolio strategy and based on all relevant accumulated strategic and performance insights
    • Manage the operating and tactical plan processes to embed core strategies in annual operating priorities across channels and tactical investments / activities
    • Oversee aligned performance goals across channel, customer-facing and enabling teams, refreshed according to the semesterly performance review cycle
  • Manage competitive assessment and planning
    • In partnership with the RSV Global team and channel leads, conduct targeted competitive intelligence and analyses to understand relative competitor strategies, positioning and activities and implications for ABRYSVO brand and U.S. customer strategy
  • Lead scenario planning and impact assessment
    • Conduct periodic and ad-hoc scenario analyses to assess the impact of external and internal dynamics, including but not limited to supply chain, consumer, competitor and regulatory actions on vaccination strategies, market uptake, inventory dynamics and market share
    • Represent with precision the financial and operational implications for leadership evaluation and to inform forecasting and investment decision-making.
  • Define and coordinate U.S. market-shaping strategies
    • Identify, based on the RSV strategic plan, critical market-shaping strategies required to advance appropriate vaccine uptake in existing and new populations and coordinate third-party partnership and market development activities executed through internal platform teams
  • Drive strategic cross-functional initiatives
    • Manage identified strategic initiatives from inception to delivery, working through the strategy and performance team, channel leads and cross-functional partners to establish effective work groups, delivery plans, performance metrics and execution.
    • Represent RSV on relevant U.S. Vaccines, Primary Care and Pfizer Enterprise strategic priority teams, as required
  • Identify and mitigate performance gaps
    • Establish structured analyses, tracking frameworks and metrics to assess ABRYSVO performance and underlying drivers of performance
    • Establish response plans and mitigation strategies as relevant and operationalize through applicable cross-functional teams
  • Own performance reporting and coordination across RSV indications
    • Consistently represent trend performance to channel leads and partners, customer-facing teams and leadership and partner to identify performance gaps and priorities
    • Oversee quarterly earnings submissions and leadership / investor relations requests to ensure consistent and clear guidance on brand performance dynamics
    • Partner with the RSV leadership team and customer-facing leads to adjust / optimize resource allocation to address performance objectives, including, but not limited to, field force targeting and prioritization, operating expense management and portfolio investments
  • Manage pipeline and technical development alignment with global functions
    • Coordinate with CSI and PRD to ensure consistent brand forecasts and valuation assessments are applied when considering new data generation, indication and label-enhancement opportunities
    • Coordinate with Global teams and U.S. Medical to establish consistent perspectives on the impact of new category entrants and/or technology platforms – e.g. combination vaccines
    • Lead technology and/or supply chain development programs on behalf of U.S. Commercial – for e.g. mode of administration, reconstitution etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 12+ years experience, including US pharma experience OR advanced degree and 11+ years of progressive experience in US pharma commercial roles
  • Preference for vaccines experience and buy & bill business models, although not required
  • Strong familiarity with the US marketing landscape including HCP, pharmacy, medical group/integrated delivery network and payer engagement strategies
  • Demonstrated matrix leadership and ability to foster a culture of collaboration and successful delivery across a variety of cross-functional partners
  • Be an active contributor to create and operate in an environment that continuously embraces and encourages the implementation of bold, innovative ideas
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, demonstrated through impact in prior roles
  • Acts as a role model for Pfizer values

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional travel may be required (e.g., for conferences and off-site meetings)
  • In-person attendance is expected for high-impact strategic meetings, workshops, or planning sessions; particularly those led or facilitated by the Senior Director
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information to drive strategic decision-making

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 30% travel primarily within the US including spending time to visit key customers, partner organizations to develop/shape initiatives with third parties and the extended Pfizer enterprise

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204,700.00 to $341,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
